May 23, 2006 I've commented here and on other sites about the blatant revisionism of left wing "historians," who would better be labeled authors of fiction. I specifically refer to the major myths of the war in Iraq. Several writers here have repeated the left wing extremist mythology in recent months. Look around good old Useless-Knowedge.com and you will find such, as well as the replies. Peter Wehner has reviewed these mythological mantras and refuted them quite thoroughly on Opinionjournal.com today. http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110008415 I think this is a result of intellectual incest: The left wing extremists keep repeating to each other the same myths until they all believe them.These beliefs are so ingrained that it appears impossible to root them out. It is simply that the left wing has been infected with an incurable mental virus, the erroneous but highly contagious memes of which I have also written. http://www.theconservativevoice.com/article/11462.html Psychiatrists talk about a "folie a deux," wherein two people share the same delusional beliefs. Perhaps we need a new term, "folie a millions," to describe the delusions shared by the left wing fanatics. Though it appears that the virus is, in a susceptible population, incurable, I think it wise that we keep trying to vaccinate the still uninfected by providing the correct information.
