Do You Have A Vision?

By Olamide Ayeni
May 17, 2006

I can still remember those days when I was a small kid. I remembered how my parent’s used to dot on me. My dad especially was very fond of me. He spurred me into writing. When I was a little above four years old, he started buying story books for me. I love stories so much that I could leave my supper for it. By the time I was twelve years old, I had already started reading Shakespeare books. I remembered I read books like: pride and prejudice, Macbeth’s, she stoop to conquer and a whole lot of others. What I’m deducing from this story is that I owe my writing ability to my father who gave me the opportunity to explore the writing field.

Most of these books shaped my life so much and they even became my habits. I started leading my mates as far back as when I was four years old. I became a prefect in my junior class three. When I gained admission to college, I became the library prefect in my final year. I represented the school in many literary and debate activities. Debates became my friend while writing was my right hand person. I was so engrossed with reading and writing that it became part and parcel of me.

I gained admission to the university and in my second year became a member of the university student’s union. I had to write this out because most parents have left their primary role. Most parents don’t even care about the welfare of their kids. It’s so funny that Time- tables don’t work for children again. When I was small, there is time for everything in my family. Time to watch televisions, read, play and sleep. I dare not change one for the other. There was time to talk with every member of the family too.

There is still a lot to do as far as parenthood is concern. Most of us children don’t even respect our parents anymore. Most parents don’t even talk heart-to-heart with their children anymore. Parents wake up, go to work, come back and sleep. It’s so bad that most kids don’t see their parents’ throughout the week. Tell me, how such child can be good. The ratio of the good ones to the bad ones is so small. It’s ratio 5:95. Most of these children get missed up with bad friends and bad peers.

In lieu of this, I came up with a vision, vision for the lost and hopeless, vision for the needy. I have a little secret, a little vision. It’s an NGO. Non-profit making. It’s called, LADIES EMPOWERMENT AND AWARENESS ORGANISATION. It’s a new idea that needs member all over the world. Oh, someone is saying why ladies? Anyways, I’m still going to talk about that later. But, don’t you think ladies, women are fragile? You can read about it on www.geocities.com/mypassion4real/mypassion.html. You can contact me with the e-mail address. People of like mind are needed urgently. It’s well.
