Thoughts

I hope that all the mothers out there had as peaceful as a day as I had. I got fed breakfast in bed and then I took a wonderful 4 hour nap. It was every mother’s dream. I even got to take a bubble bath without the usual suspects lined up along the tub like they were looking at a beached Shamu!

Then I spent my day looking through bridal magazines and at paint color samples to try to coordinate the colors for my wedding. The color selection, to me, is the hardest part. But being in early summer time, I can get away with pastels and breezy light fabrics. It’s just the right colors that are going to pull the whole thing together.

I am agonizing over each and every detail. Details are what make life. If you don’t stop to notice the details once in a while, you tend to miss out on something wonderful. That first rose blossom, that first sight of jonquils in the spring. The first song of the robins. Details are what make life fun and interesting.

Watching bugs scuttle across the sidewalk is more important than washing up for dinner. Playing with modeling clay is more fun than a nap. Coloring on a floor mat is more fun than a bath.

Watching my boys grow into manhood is one of the joys I have left in this life. I have been undergoing this non-evasive therapy since October and I feel that I am missing out on some of the biggest events in their lives. My oldest getting his first girlfriend, the youngest working on his ABC’s.

For those that don’t know what non-evasive therapy is, it mainly consists of me laying in bed for hours at a time and having my feet over my head. This really doesn’t do much except make me miss out on my life. And there is no telling when they can operate or when they are going to operate. I may have to find yet another doctor to operate.

Doctor hopping is not one of my highlights. But I need to be able to walk down the aisle and have the wedding of my dreams.

I know I haven’t written in a while, but when you are living your life in a bed, there isn’t much to write about. What can I write about? My lunch on a daily basis? I couldn’t get 500 words out of that. I guess I could write about my doctors’ visits, but what fun is that? I’ll tell you, it’s not fun to have a doctor poke at you in the spot were you hurt the most. That’s not a column. That is torture for the reader. Not to mention torture for me to relive it.

So from now on, I will strive to write light-hearted pieces. Maybe that will keep my spirits up and be more entertaining than regurgitating the news. So happy belated Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there and I hope you had as peaceful as a day as I had!
