May 7, 2006 In Augusta, Georgia there is a radio talk show host by the name of Austin Rhodes who uses quotes from Archie Bunker to support his idiotic right wing opinions. I think this best illustrates how comically dumb conservatives are. They don't realize that people were laughing at Archie Bunker and not laughing in agreement with him. One of the funniest groups of conservative nimrods in modern society is the minutemen. Groups of Archie Bunker lookalikes are sitting on our borders doing (in their minds) their patriotic duty, ready to make citizen's arrests of the poor Mexicans who are seeking a better life here. I can only imagine what these twisted bigots are afraid of. They can't be afraid of losing their jobs to these immigrants. If they have the idle time to sit in lawn chairs and harass poor people, than they must be financially secure. So what's the real reason? I can only conclude that it is revolting racism. Pat Buchanan is a hero for the minutemen and he has even written a book that is basically an admission of racism. Mr. Buchanan believes that the United States is a country of Western (meaning white European) values. Mr. Buchanan fears that the U.S. will lose its identity, if we are flooded with hordes (my words) of brown skinned Spanish speaking people. Fortunately, the minutemen are a joke. Recently, they started a tour in a black neighborhood, hoping to find yessa massa blacks who would agree with them. Instead, they were mostly greeted with hostility one step above that held for KKK rallies. The minutemen looked pathetic. Contrast this with the pro immigrant rallies in major cities across America on May 1st. Los Angeles was pretty much shut down and four hundred thousand marched in Chicago. They smashed the minutemen like a bug. The reason nothing is getting done about the illegal immigration problem is because the republicans are split. On the one hand there is the business criminal wing who favor flooding the economy with cheap labor in order to drive down wages, and on the other hand there is the redneck racist wing who want to go to the ridiculous expense of building a gigantic wall to keep brown skinned people out. I guarantee there would be no call for a wall, if Mexico was a nation of white Englishmen. The rednecks are afraid that our Western values and culture are threatened. What values? Most people agree that Mexicans have a good work ethic. Isn't this work ethic what made this country great? Culture? What-- taco stands are going to outnumber hamburger joints? Is this scary? Or worse, the national anthem might be sung in Spanish. I've got news for the rednecks--the national anthem is a pretty terrible song no matter what language it's sung in. I'm sorry, but I just don't feel threatened by illegal immigrants. I don't believe in immigration laws. I say let them all in and welcome. Immigrants are the solution to our future social security crisis. Let them in, let them work, raise minimum wage, collect payroll taxes, and social security stays solvent.
