May 3, 2006 When my son was a baby the baby carseat was manditory. It still is law today, and it is a good law, but since when have carseats become the end all be all carrier for babies. The car seat should stay in the car. I know it is cheaper to buy the compound stroller with carseat attachment. I bought one myself. I am not sure if I will be using it all the time like I have seen other parents. The reason why I don't think I will be taking my carseat out of the car is that twelve years ago I did not use the carseat except when the car was in motion. I used a baby back pack and held my baby when I went out. It was great! I could hold my baby, bond with him, and still do things. What I have seen with the baby carseat saddens me. I have observed parents with the compound stroller and the baby in it wide awake staring out into space strapped in and hardly moving. I feel sorry for that baby because it to me looks like it wants to be held. I have seen a baby in a carseat set on the floor while a father stands waiting for something. The father could pick the child up and touch the baby. Babys need to be held. Parents seem distant from their children. It is almost as if the parents are autistic toward their child. That the child is not a person to the parent. You also see this in restaurants when a child is missbehaving and the parent seems aloof about it. Children NEED constant attention.
Maybe it is time to get the baby out of bondage. Take
the baby out of the carseat and hold it. Smell the
great baby smell. Show your child you care.
