May 3, 2006 “5 The plans of the righteous are just, but the advice of the wicked is deceitful.” (Proverbs 12:5 NIV) The righteous man is the one who has a secure relationship with God and knows the will of God in the workings of his life. He is a man who speaks with God every day and ensures that all his actions hold to the spiritual intent of God’s word. The righteous man never fails to include God in his planning. This keeps his plans just and fitting for his spiritual standing before the True God. Keeping his personal planning in line with scriptural principles gives God every opportunity to bless his planning so it will bear spiritual fruit. Whether this fruit is an increased personal knowledge and ability or whether the fruit is beneficial to surrounding souls it is honorable and just because it is fruit God has secured and blessed to the individual. The advice of the wicked on the other hand isn’t sound. It is “deceitful” and not to be trusted for any spiritual purpose. It might be true that many wicked people have planned and advised many things to further the goals of humanistic adventure. If there are vices, the wicked have found ways to improve on these vices to deceive more men into wasting time reaching spiritually worthless goals. If there are religious dogmas, wicked men have found ways to turn these dogmas into money-making schemes capable of duping those who want a true relationship with the One God. “6 The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them.” (Proverbs 12: 6 NIV) Wickedness only leads to death. The scriptures declare that men have only one physical chance to understand and apply themselves to a proper relationship with the Godhead. Jesus said that a man is born of “water”, but must be reborn of the “Spirit”. Without the Spirit of God, God cannot recognize any worth in the individual. The individual must be clothed in the righteousness produced of salvation. God must see his Son protecting and interceding for the life. Words of wickedness will never produce the righteousness the individual needs to share life with God. The upright have found this truth. They walk in the Spirit and allow the Spirit to use their life to glorify God. There is no fear in the upright. There is nothing anyone or anything can do to separate the adopted son from the Father who promised to never leave or forsake any child. The upright have been “rescued” from certain and eternal separation. “7 Wicked men are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous stands firm.” (Proverbs 12:7 NIV) The “house” of the Christian is built upon the “Rock” which is Jesus. Jesus cannot be moved. Jesus has promised his presence forever. God does not back up or change his promises. He fulfills them. “Wicked men are overthrown and are no more.” When the last wicked man is cast to the “lake of fire burning with brimstone…” God will find a place for that lake and no more will humanity have to deal with sin. The last sin will have been judged and God can complete his plans for his original creation. “8 A man is praised according to his wisdom, but men with warped minds are despised.” (Proverbs 12:8 NIV) The only lasting wisdom is that which has examined God and found him faithful and true to the heart that believes. James wrote that if you lack wisdom you should ask God who gives to all men liberally without rebuke. Yet, this is the wisdom of the Spirit of God. What do you want to know? What is your motivation for wanting that knowledge? Men have been seeking wisdom for ages in all manner of science and spirit. A wisdom that forsakes God may be worth something to the world, but it probably doesn’t mean much for the individual spirit. Eternal life is the goal of mankind. Eternal life is garnered through faith in Christ. Looking for that eternity by any other means is fruitless vanity.
