May 2, 2006 My family is made up of immigrants too. They came here with nothing but a will to work. The difference is that they came LEGALLY. I understand and sympathize with Mexican nationals that want to come here and work; but why can't they come legally, pay taxes, support the schools and hospitals? Don't they realize by working for such low pay that they are victims? It's hardly more than a paper money slavery. Everyone know that the money orders fly back to Mexico via the USPS. The money they make barely sustains them and they are send whatever they can back home. The illegal part is that so many good Americans are turning a blind eye to this situation and hiring workers at $5 or $6 dollars an hour. No medical insurance and no sick days. Tushi Bushi keeps saying these are jobs Americans won't do. Sure they won't do them! Because they believe in fair pay for jobs. Everybody wants their kid to go to college. Well, a good part of the kids today don't even get out of high school. They can't make a living wage picking strawberries or working as a laborer. They work two and sometimes three jobs. Think of the single mothers working for $5 an hour. How many middle and upper middle class Americans hire their "nanny" at a ridiculously low wage to same money? Did they ever think of the nanny? People who have never been poor -- to poor to go to the doctor, to poor to eat more than soup, too poor to have a warm coat -- don't have a clue about proverty. It's time we cleaned up our country and be fair to the immigrants. Come to an agreement about who and what to legalize, close the borders, fine anyone who hires illegals heavily (maybe we can pay down the national debt) and put a stop to this cruel injustice. I'm sick of the Republicans and I'm going to vote Democrat. My dad dug ditches and he believed in the working man and woman. He expected to make a living wage. So people who are here legally should make a working wage and if not here illegally, figure out how they can stay with out ruining the infastructure of services. Everybody in the world can't move here. It's like having more children than you can afford. It isn't that you don't want them -- the other 11,000,000 children -- it's that you can't afford to have them. *C'mon Congress! C'mon Senate!* Get a grip on this. We can't be the Daddy for the whole world any more than we can make the whole world over in our images or in our many religions. It's stupid. People are different. Let's have some plain old common sense instead of a reality show, hey? Like, hey, I’m tired of watching you big companies make more and politicians lie more and the environment get dump in favor of money. I’m sick of the weakness we seem to have concerning border security. Oh, oh, gotta go, the cat just went in the neighbors' flower garden.
