We Are In A Labyrinths

By Olamide Ayeni
May 2, 2006

The political atmosphere of Nigeria is not in the best shape presently. The cloud is so full and thick of an impending danger. 2007 is approaching and everybody is trying to outsmart the other in the game of politics. Need I say, politics itself is not a dirty game but, what do we expect from miscreants, touts and sycophants who have found their way into the politics of Nigeria. I’m not going to mention names here but I know the sycophants and treacherous people know themselves. All the so called messiah of our nations who are barking at the top of their voices for liberation and freedom are all liars. The situation of the country is so bad that it’s hard for you to trust your own blood brother let alone a fellow citizen. There is no messiah anywhere for this nation but bunches of corrupt souls who are dying to share from the national cake.

Political reformation has become another way of leaking the nation’s treasury. Thanks to our leaders, who at least pay off our dept from the Paris club. The nation’s foreign revenue too is not bad but, what is the future of these things? What is the future of an average Nigerian who does not have a brother in the city? What is the future of someone like me who will graduate in a year’s time? What is the future of my parent’s who will soon become pensioners? What is the future of a Nigerian child?

Looking at things from my own perspective, care must be taken to avoid what happen in Rwanda and Burundi. What happen in Sierra- Leone and Liberia is enough to make us reason. Anyways, the rich doesn’t have to reason since they have nothing at stake if such happen. We the youths of Nigeria should stop believing in this people. If there is war in Nigeria today, they will take the next available flights out of the country, what is the faith of someone like me who cannot afford such luxury? I don’t want to dwell much on this matter but, I know time will catch up with them all. They should feel free to ask Charles Taylor of Liberia and Idi-Amin of Rwanda

It’s well with Nigerians. Cheers.
