A Tribute To A Recently Deceased PublishAmerica Author - J. David Jamesson

Sometimes I just sit and wonder about everything. There is an age old joke: Why was time invented? So everything wouldn’t happen at once. Today I learned that the literary community has lost one of its authors. He died of a heart attack. I did not know him personally and had infrequent correspondence with him on the PublishAmerica message board before I was banned. His name was J. David Jamesson and he wrote the book T.O.Y.S / ISBN: 1-4137-2002-1. If you were to search PublishAmerica’s book inventory, you’ll find this small synopsis about his book.

“T.O.Y.S.! is a book about gripes! It is the view of one man who has decided that enough is enough and instead of complaining about things to a small circle of family and friends, he is telling the world! If you don’t like controversy and honesty, don’t read this book!”

When I was first informed that “Dazzlin” Dave had passed away, I could not recall who he was. Then a friend of mine sent me a link to a website that contained pictures of Dave at a recent campout. The pictures indicated that Dave was a robust man who enjoyed life, was a good friend to many, and fellow authors were delighted to be in his presence. My deepest and sincere sympathies go out to his family and friends. He will be sorely missed, and may he rest in peace.

The community authors who are currently under contract with PublishAmerica, is very small. PublishAmerica claims that they have about 17,000 writers under contract. Today, they have 16,999. Tomorrow, PublishAmerica will sign another writer - which will bring their ranks back up to 17,000. I know that Dave was elated to have his book printed by PublishAmerica, and he made many friends. Although I did not know Dave personally, I grieve for his untimely death.

I do not know what Dave did for a living. However, Dave was an author and his book can still be ordered through PublishAmerica. His words and thoughts will live on for the remainder of his seven year contract. In death, Dave can still speak and convey his thoughts to anyone who purchases his book. It is my hope that PublishAmerica will honor Dave and have his book shelved in nationwide bookstores. In life, Dave was bound by PublishAmerica’s print on demand (POD) business model. In death, it is my hope that Dave’s book will be released and unchained from the POD business model –and his book will be distributed nationwide for public consumption.

I honor Mr. J. David Jamesson for the hours, days, and months that he sat on his posterior and wrote what was on his mind and shared it with all of us. It took patients, tenacity, and determination to write his book. He was very fortunate to hold fruits of his labor in his hands. I know the feeling very well. It is my hope that others will hold his book in their hands too, read and absorb what he was trying to convey to all of us.

God Rest Your Soul, “Dazzlin” Dave. Although your brain and body has ceased to function, your words and wisdom will live on through your book. When the seven year contract with PublishAmerica does expire and Dave’s book goes out of print –Dave will still be talking to us through his book; which will sit proudly in many houses and personal libraries throughout the United States and in other countries.
