Mar. 29, 2006 I am going to admit that I don't really read Ken Hughes or many of the other writers here. I read Pat Hurley because his writing is brilliant and professional and there are others who fall into this category but they, (and this includes myself), are few and far between. I don't even profess to be a writer. I have a purpose and I use this place to get my point across. I don't write about politics or religion unless it's an absolute necessity because it always leads to one place...the cultural battleground raging in this country and elsewhere. There is NO way that one can write about these subjects without offending someone and NO way that one can convince anyone not already in agreement to change their mind. To me, it is a pointless exercise in futility. It is also a right that we all have and should use if we so choose. I almost left here on a couple of occasions because of personal attacks but I soon realized that the person attacking was not worth leaving over. He was and is simply a bitter individual who gets his kicks making up ridiculous allegations with nothing to back them up. He should be the one cringing in the corner, not I. Back to Ken Hughes; although I can't say whether or not I agree with Mr. Hughes I can say that he should not leave this place because he has been attacked by someone who disagrees with him. Even if that person uses personal attacks it is not reason enough to leave a place that one enjoys and that gives one an outlet for their creative leanings. Look around you Mr. Hughes; you are on an Internet Magazine web site. Most who write here are not professionals and do not have the experience or training to use proper grammar or proper syntax all of the time. I used to worry about that but I don't anymore because if I can make my point and people can understand me that's all that I require. You can skip the articles that offend you, the ones where people indulge in personal attacks and you can also skip those that don't interest you. There is no reason to absent yourself because you don't have a unanimous, single minded group where there is no disagreement or difference of opinion. That would be a bit boring and that would NOT be the UK Magazine. I am a good example of someone who has been attacked in the most personal of ways and I continue to exercise my right to speak out.
