 By Ken Hughes Mar. 26, 2006 I contacted the Editor of Useless Knowledge after an article was posted suggesting I’m a homosexual, my three ex-wives would have gotten a kick out of that. I can only assume the author of the article must have some deep seated problems with his own sexuality if he gets off on a picture of me. If I were gay I would be at the front of the parade leading the march. Since I’m not gay the allegation doesn’t bother me. I’ve dealt with hundreds sick minded incompetents like those who delight in belittling fellow writers on Useless Knowledge. They’re the cockroaches we’re required to put up with in life. My e-mail to the editor wasn’t about me. It’s about all those interesting writers who’ve gone by the wayside not wanting to be part of what Useless Knowledge has become. I suggested some of the adversarial contributions border on libel. When the web site claims ownership of the articles it’s responsible for the content. The Editors response basically was, I’ll make them stop writing about you, what about all the others they write about? It’s about those who aren’t willing to take the crap defending them selves. It’s about preserving something worth while. I received 42 e-mails supporting my article not one in opposition. Some out there seem to care if the editor doesn’t care why should we? When I joined Useless Knowledge some 500 articles and two and a half years ago it was a place where the novas writers could feel comfortable knowing they wouldn’t be held to the higher standards of media quality. That’s a privilege that’s gone, taken away by a group of pseudo-intellectuals whose compassion is miniscule at best. These self-proclaimed critics aren’t writers they aren’t journalists they aren’t columnists, they are antagonists. They’re men with a poison pen who believe they are empowered by Darwin to change the world. They’re out to destroy anyone who doesn’t bow to their authority. The latest exchange between me and the pirates of the web site came when I defended Judy Ramsook and Allen Robinske. That set them off with a diatribe of innuendo and libelous accusations. I no longer wish to have my name associated with a web magazine the editor can’t or won’t control. I’ve made several good friends and more acquaintances writing for Useless Knowledge. I bid you all farewell and hope to meet you on another web site in the future. I wish the best for all the friends I meet at Useless Knowledge.
