 By Ken Hughes Mar. 20, 2006 I wish to thank Michael John McCrae for making me aware of Dr. Wafa Sultan a most fascinating lady. She’s the voice of our future relations with the Arab world. Her premise is if she can divert Arab woman away from radical Muslim teachings and make them understand they alone have the power to create a peacefully Islamic world. Is it difficult yes, impossible no? Dr. Sultan believes Arab women will be oppressed only as long as they allow it. Women are the birth mothers of society. Dr. Sultan believes its time they took their rightful place in society by exerting their power over men. Outside the Arab world women have become Presidents, Prime Ministers, and Generals. Every conceivable profession has women in it’s midst. Not all women have a desire to extend their lives beyond motherhood and home-making that doesn’t diminish their influence on society, it doesn’t diminish their worth to society. For the past 14 centuries Islamic beliefs have made women inferior to their male counter parts. Every Prophet Muslim, Jew or Christian had a mother. It’s more likely than not any compassion they had was instilled by their mothers. Their inequities and hostility if they had any probably came from their fathers. Dr. Wafa Sultan had the courage to appear on Al-Jazeera television and discuss her philosophy of Middle Easter and Arab culture she was regarded as being just a woman who shouldn’t be listened to. She expressed how that attitude has oppressed the Muslim world for generations. Dr. Wafa Sultan is Syrian born and educated in Syria. She renounced Islam when her University Professor was murdered before her eyes for not following the teachings of the Qur’aan to the government’s expectations. She has since realized looking at the accomplishments of the west and the failures of Islam that men and women left to their own religious beliefs are more likely to feel Gods embrace than if false doctrine is piled on them. I can’t possibly express Dr. Wafa Sultan’s commitment to uniting the cousins of the Mid-East, Arabs and Jew. I can say if anyone’s interested in learning about one of the 21st century’s charismatic leaders learn more about Dr. Wafa Sultan. Thanks to Michael John McCrae for bringing the good Doctor to our attention. Mac knows all the important people, Oliver North, President George Bush Senior, all of those brave men and women serving in our Military just to mention a few.
