![]() By Ken Hughes Mar. 13, 2006 Recently we saw a wave of protests around the world decrying a few cartoons of the Muslim Profit Muhammad. Most people made a few comments and pointed out Christianity and Judaism where frequently depicted in cartoons. So what’s the big deal? The big deal was Militant Muslims were able to entice otherwise peaceful Muslims to show solidarity if even for a brief period. The cartoon were the fluff, displeasure with how Muslims are portrayed around the world was the basis of the protests. Should Muslims be offended by the way they’re perceived considering how militant Muslims are acting concerning the amount of terrorism committed around the world? Unless and until the Muslim community speaks up and denounces terrorism in its entirety Non-Muslims will only have what they see to judge them by. The Muslim world can’t have it both ways. They can’t advocate killing infidels and not expect retaliations. And they can’t dance in the streets and pass out candy to the children every time an infidel is murdered by terrorists and expect respect. Dictators have always used protests to incite their populations for political support or for violence depending on the need. Protests are like unstable gun powder controlling them is an art not a science it doesn’t take much for a protest to turn into a violent mob. Protests are used by the Anti American we hate Bush crowd more than the terrorists hate Bush crowd. By in large they’re peaceful when challenged they curl up in a ball in the fetal position and wait to be drug away by police. In other countries they set fires, break windows, turn cars over and worse. How long will America be spared the violent protests? Last Friday a group of nearly 300,000 protesters some green card holders many illegal immigrants from around the world marched in Chicago Ill. Protesting new laws limiting immigration. This is not how we address our grievances in America. The protesters were encouraged by Mayor Daley, Governor Blagojevich and US Rep. Louise Gutierrez. What good does it do to pass laws limiting immigration and have our public official’s side with the law breakers? There’s ambivalence by politicians to address the problem of illegal immigration except to shake their collective heads and express false concerns. The profits involved from illegal workers are to inviting both financially and politically for politicians to disturb the statuesque. The emphasis has been on our southern boarder suggesting only Latinos are illegals. What about Canada, Our Airports, Universities, after midnight the waterways between the US and Canada look like the canals of Venice in the early evening. Middle Eastern students are still allowed to come in on special visas many never register for school and just disappear into the local community. The first opportunity to protest many of the illegals are the first in line. That’s not the problem the real problem is they’re afforded the same rights any American has. In some areas that included voting privledges. P C has made them [feet dry] once they cross the boarder. Local police can’t or won’t deal with them and federal courts prohibit federal police form dealing with them. The Boarder Patrol has little authority 15 miles beyond the boarders. These are the people protesting in Chicago last week. Laws enacted to control the illegally influx of immigrants into this country are being shoved aside and for what P C. Chicago is an ethnic metropolis, every segment of the world’s population can be found in Chicago many are illegal. They assimilate and eventually buy their way into the American dream. Green Cards and Drivers licenses are a staple of the Chicago economy. Tell you’re Congress men and women if their not going to act on illegal immigration shut the hell up. ------------ About the author: Ken Hughes joined the Republican Party at the age of three.
