Mar. 5, 2006 If you are one of the few humans that have a true medical disability, then why is it hard for the SSA to let go of your disability money you worked so hard to put into SSA and you really need it? I went to apply for SSI and there sat other people for the same thing, but the difference between me and the ones I saw was I had on a back brace and crutches. Everyone else looked like they could still bag the fries at McDonald's. And what made my blood race was the languages spoken. For some reason, in my heart, I knew a lot of those applying for SSI couldn't have worked in the US for very long to even build up any sort of disability to their Social Security Account. Now that I have been deemed "Disabled" by my team of doctors, I feel differently and wonder how many people are cheating the SSA to get money they really don't deserve. If they are cheating the federal government, how are they doing it? I want to know so i can turn them in. Hard working citizens are loosing our benefits because of people cheating us. They think they are getting "free money" from the government, but in all honesty, it's the American tax-payers being cheated. I have appealed twice, because of the fraud by people on the Social Security, I cannot get the benefits to pay our bills. Our medical bills are racking up. I stay up late at night in bed and I wonder how are we to make it. Our wedding is a year off, but how do we make sure that we have both the wedding we want and pay our bills? Plus how am I to keep taking my meds when hey are sky-rocketing prices but I need the psych meds to stay at least halfway normal? My mother knows how I feel, even with her supplemental insurance for her prescriptions, the one medication for her RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) is $150 a month and they cannot afford her medications much longer either. I know stories of her friends in the same boat. They all signed up for medicare's supplemental medical insurances and a lot of them are having, trouble getting all their medications and pay their bills at the same time. The economy is horrible on the disabled and the elderly. Sometimes I wonder how dreamy the: American Dream" really is. Why does it seem that this so called "American Dream" only seems to help those that don't need the help? This is the end of this rant and we now return you to your regularly scheduled UK. ------------ About the author: Kaycee Nilson has completed her first novel, "Night Falls on Chicago."
