Did The Salad Dressing Save The Salad?

By Judy Ramsook

Along the road of life there are many observations to be made. Some of these observations are easy to spot and can come at any time depending on where one is or what he or she is doing. For example, if some one has just been introduced to some one new, the one doing the observing might notice certain things, such as the way that person is dressed, the way he or she talks and so on.

Sometimes again, there are a few observations that one can come by inadvertently such as walking into a room and noticing a couple in a sort of compromising position. That sort of observation can leave some observers feeling a bit embarrassed. Even at a family or friendly gathering, one can notice other things such as the way one might hold his fork or spoon or how much salad dressing he or she pours onto his salad.

In fact some one once told me he would not consume a salad unless there happened to be a sufficient amount of salad dressing around, something which led me to wonder, in some instances, it it the delicious flavour of some salad dressing that might encourage some one to better consume his or her salad?

It’s been noted that not too many people like consuming green leafy vegetables, unless of course they are told by their medical professional it might be more beneficial to their health to eat some of it. In addition, some such persons may make certain facial expressions upon learning they have to consume such things for their own good. Facial expressions that indicate to the observer such persons would rather not eat those vegetables because they are not tasty enough.

For there are some individuals who do not particularly like things such as broccoli, spinach and brussel sprouts, just to name a few. So if they have to consume such things that come in their salads, some of these persons might pour a generous amount of the dressing on the salad in an attempt to mask the flavour of such leafy vegetables.

If having more salad dressing on their salads will encourage such persons to consume their salads, then there is obviously nothing wrong with that. For there are some tasty salad dressings on the market, so it’s easy to see why some individuals would prefer to eat their salads with a heaping helping of dressing.

For what is truly important is the consumption of the salad. If having a generous amount of dressing on one’s salad is what motivates some one to consume it that salad, then that is fine, but on a personal note, it has also been observed that most persons must have a likeness for certain condiments and sauces.

Some persons may use too much Salsa or hot sauce, then there are others who have a special way of preparing say, fries for consumption. A friend once asked me for instance, if I would have liked some fries with my ketchup, as she was observing how much ketchup I was pouring on to the fries.
