![]() By Ken Hughes Mar. 1, 2006 There was a time when that statement was true, no more. The media as we knew it is slowly but surely sailing off in to a fog of bewilderment. They know something’s happening to them they just can’t quite figure out what’s going on. It’s simple the media is being sucker punched by talk radio and internet blogger’s. I’m not willing to say the media’s a pawn of liberalism. However I will say they pander heavily to the left while the internet and talk radio lean to the right. Rush Limbaugh’s listeners exceed the daily circulation of many of our metropolitan newspapers. In circulation Matt Drudges on-line out draws the New Your Times. That’s a hard pill for professional journalists too swallow. I’ve been wondering what will happen when news is no longer a profitable investment. Then what will we know and when will we know it? Columnists and commentators feed off what reporters provide. If there’s no one left to pay men to risk their lives covering wars, disasters and such where will we who comment and question their work go for our information? We all take turns beating up on the media yet we use them like a Jon uses a Hooker. Perhaps we’ve learned it from liberal politicians, they enjoy the blame game. I’m sure in [his / her] infinite wisdom God foresaw these days coming and has like all of the other of mans foul-ups provided alternative means for our being informed. Gods’ creations didn’t end in seven days they’re eternal. The earth evolves second by century never stopping to rest. What was and can never be again becomes what is and will go on for decades. From the days men stood on the ridge and used his voice and the valleys echoes below to carry the news of the day there’ve been reporters of news. Only the means of delivery changes not the messenger or his message. It’s occurred to me more than once all that was, all that is, and all that ever will be is here for the finding. Man marvels at his genius, silica and electricity have always been here since earth was created. How long did it take man to combine the two to create the computer as we know it? I’m sure when God hears the credit for inventing the computer being given to Claude Shannon, J.P. Eckert and J W Mauchly He / She, is amused and questions “Why did it take so long.” All the pieces to the puzzle of life are here, man’s slow to align and assemble them. Man will find a salutation to gathering and disseminating news in this new age of technology. Robots will never replace mans instincts of survival. We who speak out from the comfort of the internet must bare in mind it’s the lowly field reporter who feeds us our product. We may bit, but not bit off the hand that feeds us. Reporters and the Media are all we say they are. They’re also the finders of the facts as we know them. Beating a dead horse never works, beating a live horse until he’s dead seems to work if there other horses in the pasture to call on. News will always be reported at this point we’re not sure how. ------------ About the author: Ken Hughes joined the Republican Party at the age of three.
