Who Do I Have To Kill To Get A Cup Cake?

By Kaycee Nilson
June 27, 2006

On Sunday, June 25, 2006, I went to a little club here in Chi-town called The Metro to attend the CD Release Party called “CupCake Fest” for the band “Escape From Earth.” By the time I got there, all the cupcakes were gone and EFE were already on stage performing so I didn’t get the chance I wanted to meet Chris, Mike, Scott or Ahn.

I did however get caught up in one heck of a mosh pit and thank god for my back corset and brace, When they got through with their set, the crush of people to get to them nearly trampled over me. I thought I was claustrophobic before, well this show proved to me that I am not only claustrophobic, but my social anxiety is not under control as me and my psychiatrist thought.

Some one grabbed my ass, and I nearly punched a bouncer. I had to get out of there before the throng of screaming idiots hit the public transportation, so I left and climbed aboard public bus on Clark street over to Fullerton and then Fullerton up to my street. Needless to say, here it is Tuesday, June 27, 2006, and I can barely move.

Would I do it again? You betcha! I had fun when I was there, but I would spend less time on my make-up and hair so I could get there earlier to meet the guys.

I now have a new favorite song, “Who Do I Have To Kill.” It’s an upbeat song and easy to dance to when you are not being shoved around inside of a mosh.

The line to get a copy of their CD, aptly named “Who Do I Have To Kill” and has a picture of a merry-go-round on the cover, is one that will end up in my collection as soon as I have the $$ to put it in there.

Now I must tell you that I missed the other bands that where at CupCake fest, the line up was; Quietdrive, Treaty of Paris, White Light Paris and Flying Just Below Radar. But I missed their sets because I wanted to look just perfect for EFE and my first face to face with them, as I did so want to meet them after countless emails with the band back and forth through myspace.com.

I have a lot of bands as friends on myspace and I intend on meeting as many as I can in person when they come through the Chicago area.

My only disappointment is not being able to meet the wonderful guys that make up Escape From Earth because the emails they send me are so sweet and so encouraging. They bring a smile to my face when I know I have a message from them in my inbox and I try to find funny things to put on their message board.

Sorry guys I wasn’t able to meet you personally this time, but there will be a next time!
