Godless: The Church Of Liberalism [A Review]

By Craig Chamberlain
June 26, 2006

Ann Coulter is back. If Slander, Treason, and How to Talk to a Liberal (if you must) weren't enough ammunition against liberals we have Godless: the Church of Liberalism. Some political books are like scapels, skillfully dissecting arguments of the opposition. Godless is like an atom bomb. By the time Coulter is done Liberalism lies in utter ruin.

With her usual wit, sarcasm, and arsenal of facts Coulter lays waste to what liberals hold sacred. Their love of criminals, the infallibility of public school teachers( no matter how incompetent), their love of death(whether it is abortion, eugenics, infanticide, or assisted suicide. Just don't try to kill a terrorist, that would be bad.)

Of course the main controversy comes in her treatment of of the "Jersey Girls". While others would have dealt with that topic in a more diplomatic fashion, Coulter is not known for being very diplomatic, and she really doesn't care what her critics think of her.

That's part of her charm as a writer. Damn the torpedoes full speed ahead! She doesn't mind saying what others are reluctant or unwilling to. She blasts heroes of the left one after another. Cindy Sheehan, John Murtha, Joe Wilson, Richard Dawkins, Peter Singer. She exposes and obliterates them all.

No liberal is safe, and after Coulter is through with them you realize they don't have a leg to stand on. Not that they ever had one to stand on to begin with. The premise of Godless is that liberalism is a religion, one without a creator God, but a religion all the same. It has a creation story, a priesthood, a cosmology, and all the trappings of what one would associate with a religion. Liberalism has its religion. Liberalism has its religious fanatics (Richard Dawkins, NARAL, Howard Dean) it's madrassas (Public Schools) and its inquisition in the media who try to burn anyone at the stake who tries to question the faith.

The faith has only one moral code: do what you want. It is a religion that is more hateful to non adherents than any fundamentalist Christian could ever be on his worst day. Only Islamism can match liberalism in its detestation of non believers.

Ann Coulter did a great service bringing forth what they believe. The fact that liberals are in such a fit only shows that, once again, Coulter is right on the money.
