June 26, 2006 Prime Minister Nelson Oduber chastises the USA for the poor treatment he believes his Country has endured as a result of the Holloway case. He threatens the USA with talk of inciting Hugo Chavez, the socialist President of Venezuela and uses our need for oil as a weapon. Hugo Chavez, a former convict is a big mouth who hides behind social reform in order to continue holding his people hostage to his dictatorial ways and has the balls to make anti-American speeches. With the threat of nuclear weapons development in Korea and Iran does Mr. Chavez really think that he is a big player in world affairs? The USA currently gets about 15% of it's oil from Venezuela and as a result of this Mr. Chavez feels that he is a huge player on the world stage. Meanwhile, back on Aruba where the main source of dollars comes from drugs rather than tourism, the worshipful Mr. Oduber continues to use his friendship and alliance with the President of Venezuela to his supposed advantage. He imitates Mr. Chavez and threatens the USA with siccing his buddy on us if we don't back off from the current boycott activities. Little does he realize that Chavez has far more to lose by alienating the USA then in dealing with us in a rational way. He can't afford to lose our oil dollars and Aruba is a huge zero in the entire equation. We allow Mr. Chavez his little moments of speechifying but we keep him under control at the same time behind the scenes. Too bad that Oduber doesn't have the brains to understand this tactic. Aruba has become a joke to many and with it's petty tourist trade and limited amenities offered to tourists (none of the resorts are all inclusive nor are they any competition for other vacation spots world-wide), the fact that they are "cheap" will only go so far. It is now known that Aruba is a lawless place with absolutely no qualified police, corrupt politicians and cover-ups at every turn in the sandy road. The Dutch are treated differently from the average Aruban citizen, bodies are being found on a regular basis and the ability for an under age person to secure drugs is well known to everyone as a result of the long and drawn out attention focused on the Island. There are lots of American Corporations who support Aruba and make a lot of money there and that has kept them afloat despite the evidence that they cannot control their own criminals and predators or the drug dealers who stand out in the open offering their wares to anyone who has a few bucks. They are out in front of heavily frequented places like Carlos & Charlie's, on the beaches and near the hotels where tourists stay. No one stops them and sadly, some of these dealers are related to the police that tourists count on to protect them. I am not going to say that the USA has no drug dealers or predators because we do but we also have trained and qualified law enforcement personnel who will do something to bring these scum bags to justice. On Aruba, no justice exists and no tourist is safe. Everything was fine on Aruba until Natalee Holloway went missing. The world turned upside down for the Island inhabitants after that happened and they were woefully unprepared for a case of this magnitude and the media attention it brought with it. They were certainly not prepared for a mother and father who refused to give up their quest for the truth of what happened to their daughter. It was easy to handle a few random drug over-doses or an occasional report of a sexual predator in their midst that tourists attempted to inform the police about. It was easy because Aruba had become proficient at lying and looking the other way. They knew that those tourists would eventually leave and that the problems would soon go away. The family of Natalee Holloway did not go away and the lies were not good enough to hold back the tides of change on the Island of Aruba. It's a funny thing about Americans...we get really pissed off when one of our own children is taken from us and it becomes apparent that the police don't care and don't have any intention of finding the missing. We get angry when it becomes obvious that these bumbling, stumbling liars actually believe that we can be conned by their smiling reassurances and fake arrests. Sure, the laws are different from ours on Aruba, but we KNOW when things are off kilter and the lies just keep on coming. It is apparent to all (including some Dutch legal scholars), that Aruba is built on lies and corruption. Unfortunately for the Aruban's they have finally been exposed for what they really are and there is no going back. Not all tourism will be affected by a boycott and Americans will continue to visit that Island for it's cheap rooms and sandy beaches. They will continue to do so until something happens to them and they are forced to realize that they've been had. As of late, several tourists have returned to America and found themselves the victims of illness. Some believed it was simple food poisoning and some commented on the fact that they had observed the dumping of waste near the beaches where they lay sunning themselves. Will they finally realize that it is not safe to visit Aruba or will it take something far more serious to convince them? Will they have to be the victim of a crime before they get the message? They can avoid the possibility of all of the above if they will simply listen to Aruba's police and prosecutor when they speak in public (a rare occurrence these days), or when the Prime Minister of this tourist haven threatens the USA with a dictator. They can connect the dots and read on the Internet all that has transpired since Natalee Holloway went missing in May of 2005. They can read for themselves about the lies and the cover-ups and the absolute inability of the Aruban police to protect anyone. They can listen to Chief Dompig making up a story as he goes along on a nationally well known news show or read what Dennis Jacobs said to Dave Holloway when he first arrived on Aruba to try and find his daughter, "How much money do you have?" If this isn't enough then take your chances and go to Aruba. Keep your fingers crossed that no harm befalls you while you are there because if it does...you are on your own. ------------ About the author: Meri has a Medical/Legal background and is a former forensic researcher specializing in psychological profiling. https://www2.xlibris.com/bookstore/bookdisplay.asp?bookid=27335 Email: writers2@cox.net Comment on this article here! ------------ All articles are EXCLUSIVE to Useless-Knowledge.com.
