June 25, 2006 Seven men between the ages of 22 and 32 were arrested this past week for plotting a 9/11 type event in the cities of Chicago, Illinois and Miami, Florida. These men were described as “deeply religious”, people who “studied the bible” and attended classes on “Islam”. These men were witnessed preparing themselves for the jihad they were planning on the day they were able to obtain the materials necessary to take down the “Sears” tower in Chicago and the FBI building in Miami. The plan was murder. Five American citizens, one naturalized Haitian and one illegal Haitian were arrested and arraigned. The seven men were said to have had the plan without the tools to execute but it was important to round up this group before they were able to put teeth in their plot. America was fortunate. This group was revealed by one additional person they attempted to recruit. Rather than say “yes” this individual went to the FBI. That is when the FBI gave the would-be terrorist cell the “Al Qaida” contact they were hoping to meet. The contact was an FBI informant. This is from a FOX News report entitled: “FBI Says Sears Tower Suspects Sought Help From Al Qaeda” AP, 24 June: “In February, [Narseal] Batiste told the informant that he and his five soldiers wanted to attend Al Qaeda training and planned a "full ground war" against the United States in order to "kill all the devils we can," according to the indictment.” So what do we do now with seven would-be murderers? Narseal Batiste is the reported “ringleader” of the group and if his attitude is pervasive with the other six individuals then these men probably should be sent away for a very long time. They were intending “war”, but it was murder as war. The Sears Tower, like the World Trade Center in New York is not a military target. They are targets largely populated by civilian workers having nothing to do with anything military. This is the enemy mindset. Killing the innocent to make a point or to further a cause is the most gruesome form of “warfare”. To see this attitude in American citizens is alarming. Timothy McVeigh had the will and the means and was able to execute 168 innocent victims out of his anger against America. These seven would-be murderers would have caused how many deaths had they not been found out? There is nothing that I am aware of in the once normal culture of America that would cause such a mindset to become fruitful. The culture of America has been changed though through a series of changes in public education and immigration policies that permit multiculturalism to overshadow what should be a unique Americanism. People do not want to be Americans. People want to be hyphenated or they want to maintain strict separatist ways. They have no desire to assimilate to the culture that gave the rest of the world’s nations the opportunity for freedom and liberty. They instead prefer to link themselves to failed societies or poor societies or tyrannies or dictatorships that offer nothing but slavery to the ideals of socialism, communism and fascism. This lack of heart toward assimilation is largely seen in the Muslim or the Islamic communities. The mindset there is that America is a satanic force that must be renewed and changed to reflect the greater ideals of the Islamic religion. We see the success of such idealism in the nations of Iran and Saudi Arabia. Islamism is the foundation of jihadist thought and action. This mindset of murder has not emitted from any other modern source. I noticed that the report had to mention the “bible” as an equitable influence. If the “bible” is to be seen as an equitable source for murderous intentions then I would suggest this group was talking with the wrong clergy, or that they were taking it upon themselves to trust their personal interpretations. A correct understanding of the “bible” would never lead one to murder. I am proud of the one person who turned informant and alerted the FBI of this group of wannabe terrorists. I am satisfied that the FBI acted in time to keep this group of individuals from becoming a real threat. I will hope that the justice system in America treats this event with the seriousness it deserves and places these men in prison until they are old and gray.
