June 17, 2006 Martin Luther King said that during the Vietnam War and it is a fact still true today. All the carnage caused by U.S. military action over the past five years makes the feeble actions of groups commonly considered terrorists look weak compared. Terrorism can be defined as scaring the civilian population by randomly killing some of them. Flush aside nationalistic bias, and one must be forced to admit that the U.S. military is the deadliest group of terrorists in the world. Marines murdered twenty-four civilians last November in Haditha. They broke into houses, shot children who were dressed in pajamas and women and an old man in a wheelchair. Conservatives still say nothing's been proven, but then again, these are people who believe the world was created in seven days, condoms cause promiscuity, and George W. Bush has a measurable IQ. No, the evidence is obvious, and the Marines first covered it up and lied about it, lied about it some more, and finally realized they better investigate because Time Magazine uncovered the truth. In a recent issue of Time there is a photograph of a dead child who looked like he suffered in agony. Look at this picture. Our tax dollars payed for this inhumanity. The Marines probably would have gotten away with this massacre, if not for Taher Thrabet. Mr. Thrabet is a journalist and human rights activist who lived next door to the murdered people. He took video of the scene after it happened. At least one witness also survived--a little girl who played dead. Mr. Thrabet contacted Time Magazine and under pressure, the military's story fell apart. The military suddenly started assigning mandatory refresher courses, teaching soldiers the rules of engagement. What? They have to be taught that blowing away children is wrong? Some say the Marines snapped. No, they didn't just snap--they are evil monsters. USA Today reports that ten percent of soldiers in Iraq are brain damaged because of IED's. These brain damaged psychos are a danger to our society, once they return home. According to Phil Caputo, a former Marine and author of A Rumor of War, Marines are brainwashed into thinking killing is fun. The Marines in Iraq are a bunch of nineteen year old shmucks, flying high on testosterone and amphetamines, ready to terrorize civilians at a moment's notice, while they ride around, unwelcome in foreign hostile cities. Without extensive psychological deprogramming, many are unfit to live amongst us after such an experience. Patriotic idiots say, "well, this is an isolated case. Don't besmirch the reputation of the whole corps." These people are naive and uninformed. There have been a number of smaller incidents where soldiers have been convicted of murdering civilians and on national television soldiers have been caught shooting innocent civilians in both Afghanistan and Iraq. And for every Haditha there are probably a dozen massacres that don't get reported. This group of American terrorists just happened to get caught. Then there are those cases that are ruled justifiable collateral damage. These cases are not ruled on by an independent panel--they are decided by the military. Oh yeah, one can be sure dead brown skinned civilians are going to come out on top of live American Marines in those disputes. There is no justifiable collateral damage in an unjustifiable war. Take a good look at a map. Iraq is nowhere near the United States and was never a threat to us. Instead, the U.S. military traveled at incredible expense all the way around the world to conquer another country. Those mass murderers from the sky known as the U.S. Air Force killed tens of thousands of innocent civilians in what most Americans consider justifiable collateral damage. If the dead could speak, one could be sure they would disagree. The Roman Empire was the biggest purveyor of violence and the world's greatest terrorist group in its time. Once can suppose that the most powerful nations on earth are always the world's greatest terrorists simply because they are rich and can afford to go in other people's backyards and eat their lunch. It's a shame. One would wish that this country would buck history and be different. Nothing changes. The U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq is an illegal violation of the U.N. charter. This makes the decision makers and participants war criminals. The U.S. has a volunteer army so their are no excuses for military men. They can't say they were just following orders. The Nazis tried that at the Nuremburg trials and it didn't fly. The U.S. should withdraw from Iraq right now and all those responsible for negligent decision making and war crimes should be put on trial. ------------ About the author Mark Gelbart: My book, Talk Radio, is a black comedy about a radio talk show host who gets kidnapped and psychologically tortured by a loser. www.mark-gelbart.com Email: agelbart@aol.com Comment on this article here! ------------ All articles are EXCLUSIVE to Useless-Knowledge.com and are not allowed to be posted on other websites.
