June 5, 2006 Huge amounts of time, money, lives, and other resources are still being spent as people continue thinking, feeling, and acting in the same old ways. To give just one example, some sixty years after the atom-bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, fear of nuclear holocaust is still present, even in the United States of America! The ultimate answer is that the ultimate energy is the human brain itself. To get some perspective, think back a hundred thousand years or so. Let your brain function as a VCR. Picture an episode often repeated during prehistory as two young men meet on a jungle trail. One man has set a trap and hidden himself in the brush. The victim never sees the victor. A cord set low to the ground is tripped by the victim as he walks jauntily along the footpath. Trimmed saplings held back are released by the sprung trap and well-designed physical components drive a dozen sharpened curare-tipped sticks into the doomed man's ample thoracic muscles. For him this is the end of the line. Within the hour his skull has been skinned. The skin, complete with hair, soon becomes dried and shrunken for a trophy. The trophy-laden victor is now considered a man by his culture. Modern man came to exist as man-the-edgy-self-conscious-vigilant-trapper killed man-the-serene-worker. Over ages such bestial trophy-hunting produced Cain's legendary culture of perpetual warfare and premature death. This is not just a legend, folks. Modern children aren't trained to be headhunters, but continual vigilance, trapping, and avoidance of traps are all part of the present social paradigm in games and sports, in city auto traffic, in fast-paced school classrooms, in video games of conquest and doom, and even in rip-snortin' online chatrooms. Today's boys grow up in a culture where back-stabbers and vigilantes are the rule. Nevertheless, entrancement reduces vigilance and self-consciousness as it gives a heightened sense of freedom, perception, and intelligence. Self-consciousness is gone straightaway like stinky number two down a flushed toilet. Doctor Brown's "Supermind" performs in print. To see this, read the section "Visions of Hidden Intellect" from Barbara Brown MD's book "Supermind the Ultimate Energy." Tradition-bound modern education encourages girls and boys to be very self-conscious and very competitive. The "underachiever" child may be more "Superminded." The modern school "star" has defeated all the other competitors. Competitiveness makes people fight to obtain the same objective, whether it is game points, scholarships, or jobs. What other persons hoard, competitive people try to steal or destroy. But with entrancement more freedom and creativity are experienced. The entranced person loses the furrowed brow and gives up the curare medicine and the antiquated social paradigm of war. With all due respects, consider the full professor. Indeed, today's eminent educators excelled as young scholars and they beat many competitors to obtain a coveted position where they now plan expensive research projects and delegate money for other uses. The military itself employs many such learned specialists whose acumen is proven. All this sharpness, competitiveness, and narrowed excellence moves the nations closer and closer to the end of history as history has always been. Old prejudices, old fears, old hatreds and other old habits keeep cultures hidebound. People continue thinking and feeling in the old way. Perhaps all this talk of peace and Supermind seems naive, eccentric, hippieish, misguided, or even insane! In a chatroom a nonvigilant and vocally nonviolent entranced participant is cut to shreds, like a single naked man put with a dozen hungry lions in an ancient Roman arena. Modern cultures selecting for competitiveness simply do not teach children to become "Superminded" and use their brains to the maximum extent posssible. This is the way children are still being cultured to grow up and often think, act, and feel like quick-witted, fast-paced, seasoned jungle survivors, and this is the way the most competitive persons and groups rise to dominate. The "Supermind" remains an enigma. After a person has been transformed, they feel much calmer, and their physical and mental health is measurably better. They are more helpful to other persons, and they are more prolific of good works. Such persons may not understand exactly what has happened inside of their brains, however, and as a result some fantastic tales have been dreamed up to explain such unusual persons. Supermind transformations are rare in today's world, however, because a young man and a young woman are cultured to be so competitive. After all, the competitive men win the Big Game and the Gorgeous Dame. The "underachievers" may not even ever get married. Evolution without clear consciousness marches on. For the sake of the living planet, though, and for the sake of future human generations, the long-anticipated paradigm shift must come soon. Clear consciousness in students will become the goal of professional teachers. Large foundations (like the John Templeton Foundation) will support research on Supermind. "I love him whose soul is deep even in the wounding, and may succumb through a small matter: thus goeth he willingly over the bridge." (Friedrich W. Nietzsche) "I love him whose soul is so overfull that he forgetteth himself, and all things are in him: thus all things become his down-going." (Friedrich W. Nietzsche) "I love him who is of a free spirit and a free heart: thus is his head only the bowels of his heart; his heart, however, causeth his down-going." (Friedrich W. Nietzsche) "I love all who are like heavy drops falling one by one out of the dark cloud that lowereth over man: they herald the coming of the lightning, and succumb as heralds." (Friedrich W. Nietzsche) "Lo, I am a herald of the lightning, and a heavy drop out of the cloud: the lightning, however, is the Superman.- -" (Friedrich W. Nietzsche) ------------ About the author: John L.
