June 3, 2006 In his recent U-K article entitled "Rockets" Brian Michael Barbeito presents us with kaleidoscopic images. Brian's nimble writer's fingers pummel the keys the way large drops from a thundercloud spatter upon our heads and smack with audible reports the leaves of maples, oaks, and sycamores, as well as resound against the rims of dusty hard hats and faded beach umbrellas. Yes, indeed. In this article Brian reaches us from a heavenly place where everything is happening right here now, with his "The greatness. A silver watch and cinnamon mouthwash. A ring with waves on it. Cotton shirt and clock radio. Microwave stands and lost cats. It all screams; it all wants to be; it all always was." and with his "Ice cream and white bricks in the sun. The demarcation of moments. The hieroglyphs for now. Chin rested in hand. The Mulberry tree makes joy. Spring loaded pen." Dear reader. Tear yourself loose from the sheer linear logical order of ordinary writing and just look! Do what the writer Brian Michael does. Make your look most all of yourself! Open your eyes and see everything is going on right now here all around you and you can't squeeze it into a tube of toothpaste and screw the cap on and save it for an eventual mouth cleansing over a pink spittle-spotted wash basin. Make your look most all of yourself! Let the world come into yourself through your wide-open eyes. This is what Brian is offering you in his short piece entitled "Rockets." Look up into the sky and see all the stars are shining at once. Put all this nonlinear overwhelm in an article and you get multiple streams of consciousness, many channels of mind flowing into your own universal channel. That's Brian Michael's message: same as W.C. Williams' Red Wheelbarrow and three white chickens message. The veteran surfer's bonzai pipeline message. It's like I wrote in 1963 as a budding poet: "My attention IS the surfer. He is always riding the WHITE." That's raindrops on the pavement- a gift from Heaven. I'm serious about this Look that is most all of me. You see, you are looking linearly as you read these words and you are looking nonlinearly as you look at the blue sky. You are nonlinearly seeing the blue of the sky coming in from a zillion different directions at once, as submicroscopic waves and/or particles. Furthermore, intellectually you know that everything is going on at once, and that I am here and you are there and Brian Michael is where he is and billions of other people are all where they are right now in this Look that is most all of us. But Brian really FEELS this Look. You can feel this power in Brian is also in yourself as you read his words. Try reading "Rockets" again and you well may see multitudes of eyes looking nonlinearly from the surface of the page, trying to make eye contact with you. Brian Michael's got SOUL. Raindrops on the pavement- a gift from Heaven. "I love him whose soul is deep even in the wounding, and may succumb through a small matter: thus goeth he willingly over the bridge." (Friedrich W. Nietzsche) "I love him whose soul is so overfull that he forgetteth himself, and all things are in him: thus all things become his down-going." (Friedrich W. Nietzsche) "I love him who is of a free spirit and a free heart: thus is his head only the bowels of his heart; his heart, however, causeth his down-going." (Friedrich W. Nietzsche) "I love all who are like heavy drops falling one by one out of the dark cloud that lowereth over man: they herald the coming of the lightning, and succumb as heralds." (Friedrich W. Nietzsche) "Lo, I am a herald of the lightning, and a heavy drop out of the cloud: the lightning, however, is the Superman.- -" (Friedrich W. Nietzsche) ------------ About the author: John L.
