Killing Two Birds With One Stone: Relocating Israel To The US/Mexican Border

The headlines scream of war in the Middle East, and illegal immigrants flooding into the United States via the border with Mexico. What if these two long-standing problem areas and festering sore spots could be nipped in the bud? What if one bold move by President George W. Bush could bring peace to the Middle East and security to our Southern border? What if Israel, including their tanks, planes, troops and artillery, were to be relocated to a 40 mile wide stretch along the U.S./Mexican border. Muslims would be happy, as they would no longer have Jews in their midst and the so-called "Palestinians" would have their longed-for "homeland". Jews would have much more real estate than they currently have in the "promised land", with the added bonus of no more hostile Islamic neighbors, and the United States would have a buffer against foreign intrusion through our border. Mexicans and other Central Americans may risk the current border patrol and barriers, but how many would risk the obligatory wall and Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) just to get a job mowing lawns, picking fruit or washing dishes in America?

After the Israelis leave the Middle East, Jerusalem can become an International City, belonging to no one, accessible by all. The International Community would need to reimburse the Jewish people for the improvements they have made to modern-day Israel and the United States and the OPEC nations can help the new settlers in the Southwest, along with the Arabs that will occupy what is now Israel. Call it a simple real estate trade or a bold idea, either way, it seems one of the few ways out of the mess we are in in the Middle East.
