July 31, 2006 Jesus once told his men that if they understood Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms then they would understand everything about him, for “they are they that testify of me”. All of scripture is testimony of the one Savior. Paul wrote that the Old Testament was compiled to be an admonishment to future believers that we would know how not to lust or make the mistakes of the fathers. There is nothing in scripture that is without value to the believer. I am a student of pre-tribulation. That means I believe the next great prophetic event of scripture is the “catching-away” of the true church, the body of Christ. There is an Old Testament admonishment, or “ensample” for us to see. That is the testimony of Enoch (7th from Adam) who was taken into heaven alive so as not to see death. This is a picture of what it will be like for those who Paul wrote of when he wrote: “we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with [the dead in Christ] in the clouds…” and then forever be with the Lord. Enoch was taken into heaven some 60 years or so before the “tribulation” of the Noahic Flood. We can see by the record of events written by John the Apostle in the Revelation of Christ that Noah through the flood is much a picture of Israel through the last 7 years of mankind before the establishment of God’s Kingdom. We can understand why the whole church must be caught up to heaven. The seven year tribulation is a period of Satan’s dominance on the earth. For him to claim this dominance the Holy Spirit must be removed from his direct influence over men. Since the Holy Spirit indwells the true Church, the Church must also be completely removed from the earth. This is not a difficult concept to grasp. Understanding the “Marriage” of Jesus to his Bride is conducted in Heaven just prior to the last battle (Armageddon) and that this Bride is the Church, we can readily accept the Church in Heaven, not having to face the trials of the 7-year tribulation cycle. Scripture explains the great battle and that the forces arrayed behind Jesus at his Second Coming consist of the millions who died in faith, collectively becoming the Bride. When the great battle is won Christ then establishes his 1000 year reign on Earth. After the 1000 years then Satan is permitted to deceive whomsoever still refuses to see Jesus for who he really is. This does not result in additional war but it does set the stage for the final judgment of all the “dead” and the “unfaithful”. The progression is logical based in the past performance of all the Old Testament Prophets. All the allocated prophecies of the First Advent of Jesus were faithfully completed as written. Prophesies in the Old Testament concerning the Second Advent of the Messiah are having their stages set. We see a European Union in turmoil which will eventually settle into the support structure for the Antichrist. We see China becoming more powerful every day and the threats posed by their allies Iran and North Korea. We see more lawsuits against Christians and the Word of God in general. We see world-wide condemnation of the Hebrews in Israel which may eventually force America to stop defending her. Should that happen then we may very well be seeing the end of the age of mankind. Yet, others in other ages saw the signs of their times and believed their generation was in the “Last Days”. As far back as the persecutions of the Thessalonians, signs called for apostolic interpretations. Paul had to write to comfort the beleaguered Thessalonians and assure them that the “Last Days” were not yet upon them. The “mystery” and the “sign” are to be the “catching away” of the true Church. Until we disappear into the clouds to meet Christ the rest of you can breathe normally. Once the true Church is gone, if you remain standing on the earth, you may just want to remember one thing.
