Tomorrow ever does its work Irresistibly and does it today, And it ever strangely attains its object. Waterloo Excerpts from Les Miserable [Victor Hugo] The issue of reparations must have taken a strange twist with the new semantic connotation and an entirely different posit than its intended meaning. According to the Encarta definition “reparation[s] is are / defined as payments that a victorious power seeks from the defeated side to compensate for costs or damages incurred during a war”. At the end of WWII, US President Woodrow Wilson applied the term ‘reparations ‘to differentiate Allie’s demand for restitution for civilian damages ,the coinage was to distinguish said from an older concept of ‘indemnity’. Money indemnities, as distinguished simple booty, emerged in the course of the Thirty Years War [1618-1648] and then became prevalent in the settlements of the French and Napoleonic Wars [1792-1815]. Notoriously what was paid to Japanese Americans for ‘unjust’ incarceration during WWII was not reparations but indemnity “ which acquired punitive and discredited connotations, the US President, Wilson and the Allies resorted to the concept of ‘Reparations War Guilt Clause’ to justify Germany’s obligation to pay and stated that Germany accept sole responsibility for causing the war. A Reparations Committee was established by a Peace Treaty forcing the Germans to comply –under duress, a factor which led to widespread resentment –which contributed towards the rise of the Nazis in the 1920’s and 1930’s. History is, they say, written and choreographed by the ‘victors’ and the vanquished have absolutely no say whatsoever………..the black race has been in an eternal war since the advent of the white on his shores .The white man was initially prohibited from soiling the interiors of his continent but for purposes of ‘trade’-slave trade local chiefs were coerced and deceived into selling their peoples in return for pittances which would haunt them to their graves . Unbeknownst to them the white man had already perfected the art of cheating and dispossession on his ‘home soil’ and due to a lazy comportment which rendered him utterly useless for any hard work, he sought cheap labour which he would not pay for and would have no intention of doing so for ever …..or so he thought and would think. Black people are at war, it’s a silent war one fought in the bloody battlefields of their minds, one which no one can understand –especially not the white mind. Its a war with crass and ignorant stupidity, it’s a war where the ‘foes’ do not, cannot, will not refuse to admit that victory may –will come but to the weak adversary –belligerents not of their own choosing. Its a war so silent that its being taught to unborn foetuses in the wombs : O babies to come See here your implacable enemy Vicious and mean Giving no quarter –asking for none Give him all he needs For beneath the posturing He is weak and helpless Grave injury he wreaked on your kind Years and years ago Patience unborn, patience The battle is just begun You will fight You will win. [Stephen Lonewolf M. 2006] One wonders which is more incredulous –the fact that black race deserves an apology and then restitution, and then reparations-because ‘we’s gon win dis hya war!’ . The war will not be a war of with weapons but a war of resolve …….for the enemy only understands the language and parlance of violence and of ‘bows and arrows’ but the black race will not be taken down that path or road for it would bring to naught all the noble black race stands for. The noble black race waits, awaits, will wait for we have ‘wished to understand what revolution is, we have called it progress and we have called progress tomorrow and tomorrow ever does its work irresistibly so TODAY!
