July 26, 2006 The story off the wire services is that a man in a butcher shop in Virginia, my home state now, was so upset over having been unable to buy goat's meat that he went behind the counter and used the meat-cutting equipment to cut off his hand. He explained that he had done so to benefit his family. Exactly how this supposedly benefited his family is not clear. He had been given some chicken instead of goat's meat, but apparently this was not satisfactory to him. He, along with his hand, was taken to the hospital and will likely receive some treatment. Perhaps they will even attempt to re-attach his hand and, given the state of modern microsurgery, he may even gain some use of it. He may well be given some psychiatric treatment and drugged up a bit, too, as he seems just a little bit disturbed. He did explain at the scene that he was not a terrorist. Perhaps he just thought that, were he not to bring home the goat's meat, his family would cut off a hand in punishment and he was just pre-emptively striking for them. "I'm not a terrorist, though I act as deranged as one. And I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night." Though it is not mentioned in the news report, one might hazard a guess that the man was of Middle Eastern appearance and might have been named Mohammed. We shall await more details. I am very interested in this one. It might give an insight into just how many of the Muslims are actually crazy. I am afraid the percentage is a good bit higher than we have been willing to believe. I was giving them the benefit of a doubt until 70% voted for Hamas in Palestine and until Lebanon refused to deal with Hezbollah and now gripe that the Israelis have to do it. I saw a young, very lovely, obviously bright and articulate young woman on the Greta van Susteren crime and comedy hour last night who was fabricating the numbers of Hezbollah killed versus the numbers of "innocent" civilians and who was explaining that the Lebanese would be only too happy to kick Hezbollah out if the Israelis would just stop killing Hezbollah. She did not explain, not did the thorough and insightful Greta ask her why they hadn't dealt with them in the preceding six years. Just more peacenik pro-terrorist propaganda, near as I could tell. But she was so pretty I was happy to watch her display her delusions or lies for a while.
