July 24, 2005 I think it’s been pretty well established that the classification of psychopathological conditions is a fairly worthless endeavor. Given a deranged individual, different psychiatrists will produce widely divergent diagnoses. Even in cases where there is a measure of agreement, the diagnosis usually does not point the way to a successful treatment, so there’s still no way to establish that the diagnosis was correct. So when some simpleton like Mark Gelbart bandies about words like “schizophrenia” and “paranoia”, you can just discount them as childish name-calling. Putting arguments in my mouth, he then proceeds to “refute” them. He says that I am an “anti-semite” and that I believe Jews should just “lay down and die”. Assuming he means “anti-Semite” and “lie down and die”, and that these blunders are merely typographical, I ask him to show me where I said anything of the sort. There are many living and dead Jews with whom I have no quarrel whatsoever, for example, Jascha Heifetz, Isaac Asimov, George Soros, Leonard Bernstein, Barbra Streisand, Noam Chomsky, Felix Mendelssohn, etc., etc. I have never once said Jews should just die. I have never mentioned any solidarity with any Aryan brotherhoods, Neo-Nazis or other fringe political groups. My views are all strictly my own. I don’t belong to any party, faction or movement. I don’t need Gelbart to school me on Jewish history either. I know that the existence of Israel as early as 1209 BC is fairly well confirmed by the Merneptah stela, and I know of the two Jewish-Roman wars on the first and second centuries AD. I have mentioned these facts time and time again in my articles, and don’t need to rehearse them again. The question is how many Jews there were in the Levant from 135 AD to 1880 AD, when Jews or people calling themselves Jews started infiltrating into Palestine, then a part of the Ottoman Empire. Undoubtedly there was only a miniscule party of Jews there, probably numbering in the hundreds, if that. From 1880 to 1918 they grew to the point of constituting 10% of the population of Palestine, thanks to the efforts of the Jewish Colonization Association, an ad hoc body founded by Sir Edmund Rothschild. In a 1918 survey, the Gentile population of Palestine, 90%, with 80% Muslim and 10% Christian, were strongly opposed to a mass infiltration of Jews, but Jews have kept coming and coming and coming, mostly from Russia and Eastern Europe, even till this day, and now number 76% of the population. Gelbart shows his inaptitude for statistical reasoning by pointing out that 57% of Americans support Israel, as if that demonstrates that Israel’s case is sound, but at the URL next below, Gelbart can read that 55% of Americans are creationists, so, in that case, he should just shut up about his beloved evolution, and his whale-to-hippo fantasy. The popularity of an idea does not establish its scientific validity. Let me note I am not arguing against evolution here; I am just showing the fallaciousness of this kind of reasoning. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/11/22/opinion/polls/main657083.shtml Putting more words in my mouth apparently, while acknowledging that Jews founded Hollywood, Gelbart explains that Jews do not “own” the media. Never did I say that Jews “own” the media. I chose my words carefully, I may have said they “dominate”, “control”, “manipulate” or “influence”, but I never said “own”. So when Gelbart instructs me that the media are publicly traded and nationally owned, he is falsifying an argument I never made. As a specimen of the kind of information I am relying on, let me lead Gelbart to another website, that of the Anti-Defamation League of Bnei Brith, where the ADL admits that the presidents of ABC, CBS and NBC are all Jewish. This is against odds of 640,000 to 1 that this would take place by the workings of chance, since Jews are 1 in 40 in the US. But I have much other evidence too. I don’t broker in rumors, libels, suppositions, fallacies, conspiracy theories and the like. If I say something, you can believe it’s well-founded. As a grammatical aside, let me remind Gelbart that “media” is a plural noun. One should say, “the media are”, not “the media is”, as Gelbart does. http://www.adl.org/antisemitism_survey/survey_ii_chart_media_exec.asp Gelbart also assures me that media executives don’t get together to spin the news so that it’s favourable to Jews. I never said they do. It’s an automatic sort of thing. In a large sample of Jewish executives, the majority will automatically embrace and promote Jewish, Zionist and Israeli causes. So they have what you might call a tacit agreement to spin the news their way. Still I wonder what Henry Kissinger, Richard Perle and Conrad Black, whose wife, Barbara Black, is Jewish, used to talk about behind closed doors over at Hollinger International during the run-up to the war. I wonder what Edwin Sulzberger and Judith Miller used to talk about. In other words, the woes of the Palestinians are their own fault, and have nothing to do with the theft of Israel by Jews or pseudo-Jews from Eastern Europe.
