Weeping For Millions Of Murdered Babies? You Bet!

By Patrick Hurley
July 20, 2006

Somehow the concept of sensitivity has eluded a writer in here as he has attempted to make abortion a purely political issue and mocked the right wing of the Republican party as if that is the key to truth, justice and the American way.

Not so fast, Frodo.

Because of Roe v. Wade the law of the land favors the woman's ultimate choice when it comes to giving birth. For now. But, there is a deeper question here. Law or no law, when does LIFE begin? No amount of argument, political, religious or ethical is going to change anyone's mind in my next few paragraphs.

I will say this: I am lucky to even be alive. My parents had to choose to give me life or abort me. They were not married and one of them did not wish to be. Because he was raised strictly Catholic, he consented to do the right thing in 1948 and become a father and a husband. My life, which had been hanging in the balance, was saved.

To all of you out there who smugly insist that life does NOT begin at conception, I have a bulletin for you. If you leave the fetus ALONE and do not touch it, chances are very good it will become a human being. Trust me. Sure, there are miscarriages, but that is the law of nature directed by the hand of God, not the privilege of the selfish who are horrified that they will have to make sacrifices for a child they do not want.

I believe in the choice of the woman BEFORE she gets pregnant. Once she does, she loses that option. The choice then shifts to the new life struggling to survive. Leave him or her alone and they will make that decision, thank you very much. It is a natural fact that all those in favor of abortion have already been born.

I am not a conservative Republican. I used to be a liberal Democrat. I am not making this argument because I believe in God or because I am more ethical than anyone else. I do so as a human being who believes that all life should be given a chance, even if a woman is raped by Osama Bin Laden and gets pregnant as a result.

When we reach a point of glibly writing about our views on human life and using our ineffective writing style and faulty reasoning to attack not only the living and the dead, we are revealing not only the lack of skills in our writing but the black hole of our character. It is no wonder that we use an alias to promulgate both concepts of our weakness as an author and as a human being. If I were that lacking in ability and integrity I would not let anyone know my real name, either.

Death is not funny. Using death politically is not funny. Mocking anyone who dies or uses death politically is not funny. Writing bad articles is not funny.

Being alive and wanting others to live once they are conceived is not funny, it is civilized. I hope in the future, that we will not continue to attack those who cannot fight back. They are not wimps nor are they cowards.

If you want to see the definition of either of those two types of people you need go no further than the article which spurred me to respond to it.
