The Friction Of War And Israel

By Mike Haran
July 18, 2006

If the fate of the world depends upon the outcome of the political discussion on the US airwaves and in books that stay in print for maybe a month it is time for the US to relinquish its role as world leader. As Rome's intellectual capacity declined so to did her role as the arbiter of world affairs. Like wise as the US intellectual capacity declines so too does her position as world leader.

Oil has bought the middle east to an unearned position of power. The setting up of OPEC in 1972 began the greatest transfer of wealth, with or with out war, since the beginning of recorded history. Pre- world war two policy would have been to physically prevent this through the use of military force. With Europe in a secondary position due to the first and second world wars the United States called the shots. Terrorist spouting their medieval philosophies now roam the word consuming thousands of man hours per day in police resources causing the US to invade the middle east using the pretext of eliminating weapons of mass destruction.

It seems that this legally suspect action could have been avoided if Britain and France had been allowed to impose, albeit on shaky legal grounds, a military presence in the canal zone while at the same time preventing OPEC from gaining a foot hold by means of military force .Countless lives would have been saved( despite the fact that lawyers and intellectuals would have been aghast).

Oil has fueled the ambitions of Syria and Iran who have none, but do have influence .Both have long been bases of Hezbollah and Hamas who seem to be a de facto part of their armed forces. A method has been arrived at where due to the anticipated outcry by western intellectuals (now concentrated in the print media)they can operate with impunity if those being attacked have unclear legal grounds regarding the right to counter attack

Things have declined to such a state that the chickens have come home to roost. Israel has taken matters into her own hands closing down the Lebanese international airport, blockading her ports, cutting her ties to Syria. Seems to me that this is not being done in order to rescue a few kidnapped soldiers but as a prelude to the invasion and occupation of the whole of the Lebanon. After that Syrian will want to become involved, and then Iran in Iraq. Can we see a future middle east scenario where the whole of the middle east will be occupied by the west in order to ensure the supply of oil?

In the final analysis all disagreement is eventually settled by military means no matter how unfashionable. The various meetings, denunciations’, recriminations and resolutions are what the nineteenth military strategist Carl Von Clausewitz has described as ‘The friction of war, a temporary lull. Everything seems to be leading up to that situation must feared by the west :a military occupation of the middle east.
