Jan. 18, 2006 The Honorable Spencer Bachus, the Republican Chairman of the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit who dispatched 13 FBI agents to Aruba in the first week of the Natalee Holloway vanishing, a href="http://www.useless-knowledge.com/1234/nov/article401.html">http://www.useless-knowledge.com/1234/nov/article401.html, reinserted himself back into the ongoing mystery when he met with a delegation of Aruban, Alabaman and FBI representatives on December 16, 2005, in Washington, DC. Mr. Bachus, ever the gentleman, praised Aruba for its diligence and professionalism and stated, “There are people in my district who have said, `I don't want them coming up here and talking to my son or daughter' but in a criminal investigation where there is a missing young lady, you talk to the people that were around her the last few hours”. http://www.useless-knowledge.com/1234/05dec/article219.html Mr. Bachus, whose early concern and support moved bureaucratic mountains and motivated the usually immovable FBI (in a scenario reminiscent of “if the mountain won’t come to Mohammed, then Mohammed must come to the mountain) to move, en masse, to Aruba to assist with the investigation, is now the most-recent target of the Internet-driven hate campaigns and has been defamed and maligned in a most unpleasant manner. There could have been nothing in Mr. Bachus’s support for the escalation and continuation of the investigation that should have given any offense to those individuals who also desire to bring closure to this most perplexing of puzzles. If the threads led back to the United States, why would it matter if those loose ends were to be traced back to their sources there: surely the donations would not dry up if potential donors thought that the asp may have been nestled within the groups’ own collective bosom all along? In a hate-filled hatchet job (expressed much less humorously than the first paragraph of http://www.useless-knowledge.com/1234/sept/article292.html), a blogger firmly set his sights on Representative Bachus and proceeded to malign and defame him (and his position, integrity and ultimately those who elected him) in a most ungentlemanly and unpleasant manner. Bank-rolled anti-Aruba blogs are likely nothing new in this made-for-the-media mystery; however, ArubaDirtyPolice is an especially virulent specimen of that genre and is one that usually restricts itself only to Paulus van der Sloot and other Aruban and Dutch targets. On January 2, 2006, the blog owner, an enigmatically named Deetch, addressed himself to writing about his own perception of Mr. Bachus’s shortcomings. These presumed shortcomings appear to be related to Mr. Bachus’s December 16 fact-finding meeting and Deetch’s comments are quite graphic (http://arubadirtypolice.blogspot.com/2006/01/spencer-van-der-bachus-sphincter-boy.html), especially when one considers that they are directed at a sitting representative of the U.S. Government. What was the real motivation for this Internet attack? Who is this individual who feels that the Honorable Spencer Bachus can be targeted as if he were on a level with Deetch’s much-despised Paulus van der Sloot (two other diatribes, Aruba Herding the Innocent and The Mountain Brook Student Ruse, are written in a familiar style)? We will likely never know whether money or malice motivated the writer to compose his fetid keyboard fingerings; however, Deetch himself is a much-simpler onion to unpeel. A few inspired moments on the Internet lays bare much about Bill…and just think what Representative Bachus could do with the assistance of only one FBI agent.
