Jan. 16, 2006 Do you remember how enthusiastic you were when you purchased your new cellular telephone? You were probably so ecstatic that you started calling just about everyone you wanted to have your new telephone number. We all want privacy. Some of us want as much of it as we can possibly get. If giving some one your cellular telephone number is the only way he or she can acquire it, that in itself will make you feel all the more secure. In a time before the cellular telephone technology was what it is today, if you wanted your own private telephone line you had to contact your local telephone company. They would come out and install that line for you, giving you your own number, that’s different from the main house number. For most people, the cellular telephone eliminated that hassle. People who preferred the cellular telephone as to having their own line plugged into their room could be free to roam around town. As opposed to waiting at home for that all important call. The portabiltiy of their own phone with a number only a priveleged few had gave them that convenience and privacy. It made you so happy that every time it rang you knew the person on the other end was some one you had given the number to. Weren’t you happy just knowing that the only persons who had your number were those individuals to whom you had given it? Sorry to ruin your private telephone time, but soon all that could change. According to a recent news report, in just a few days from now, those cellular telephone numbers that you hold so dear to your heart will be released to telemarketing companies. You know what that means, after those telemarketers get a hold of your number they will be calling you with various sales pitches. Worse yet? You will be charged for those telemarketing calls. What’s a cellular telephone owner to do in order to prevent this type of abuse from taking place? You can call this number by way of using your cellular telephone: 1-888-382-1222. Doing this from your cellular telephone will place your cell phone number on a National Do Not Call List and will remain there for a total of five years. No one has been forgotten here. If you wish to place your cellular telephone number on the National Do Not Call List via the internet, just go to www.donotcall.gov. You can also include multiple cellular telephone numbers on the site. To every problem it seems, there is a solution. Be grateful that there are measures you can take before that telemarketer can get a hold of your cellular telephone number. Remember after registering it with the National Do Not Call List, it will remain there for five years. Keep the number and website address in a safe place, lest you should misplace both.
