Jan. 12, 2006 So much to cover, so little time. I was watching the Alito hearings(ok, I was channel surfing) and came across the king of Senatorial Blowhardus Ted Kennedy. Kennedy was desperately trying to score some kind of hit on judge Alito. But he looked like a punch drunk boxer swinging wildly just trying to survive the round. I don’t remember Kennedy’s exact words, but I remember his tone of voice as he was talking about the Federalist Society. He spoke of the Federalist Society, a society of lawyers and jurists actually committed to constitutional law, like a normal person would talk about the Ku Klux Klan. I wonder if he has that kind of contempt for real Klansmen like Senator Byrd? I doubt it. Watching Senator Kennedy brought two things to my mind. 1) Kennedy is better off if he doesn’t talk. He only sounds like the court jester who wants to be the court philosopher. And 2) Judge Alito is perfectly qualified for the supreme court. Iran has announced it has begun work on its "peaceful" nuclear program. Does anyone really believe that these psychotic Muhammadans have a peaceful bone in their bodies? Their President has denied the holocaust and calls for Israel’s destruction. I love their logic. A typical statement by a Muslim might go something like this "There was no holocaust and we need to finish Hitler’s work!" President Bush has said Iran made a grave mistake in restarting their nuclear program. I bet. They might have to face the U.N. security council. Oh the horror! A little more on Iran. According to Michael Ledeen on nationalreview.com Usama Bin Laden is dead. Apparently the monster died of kidney failure. I hope he’s dead, but I just wish we had gotten him. Oh well. We didn’t get Hitler but that doesn’t mean we didn’t win World War Two. Where does Iran fit in? According to the story that is where Bin Laden was hiding since his defeat at Tora Bora. So much for Sunni’s and Shiite’s not being able to work together. We ignore Iran at our own peril. I just finished reading Thomas Sowell’s Black Rednecks White Liberals. Brilliant as always. His books should be required reading on every college campus in America, maybe every High School too. Can’t start too soon exposing them to great minds. Scandal, scandal, scandal. Well personally I don’t think of this as a GOP scandal. My congressman(Alan Mollohan D-WV) took money from Abramoff. He gave it back and washed his hands of it, as everyone on the hill is trying to do. If this doesn’t show the need for term limits nothing does. We can’t allow congressmen too much time to get too cozy with lobbyists. I like what Alexander Hamilton said about congress in a speech he gave to the New York constitutional convention. "It’s members are to hold office for two years and then return to their constituents." Amen to that. Ok last point. I know the bowls wrapped up eight days ago, but I hadn’t gotten around to writing about the bowl games. For the first time that I can remember they didn’t disappoint. Especially the Sugar Bowl. Well I’m biased. I am a fanatical WVU fan. Finally a bowl win, now maybe our basketball team will get further into the tournament.(they made it to the elite eight last year but good doesn’t win championships, great does.) Go WVU!
