Final Declarations And Conclusion From 1 Corinthians Chapter 15

By Skip Toomaloo

“50I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality, and then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." 55"Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" 56The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” (1 Cor. 15: 50-58 NIV Bible Online)

All men are born in a state of spiritual innocence. The spiritual innocence is marred by the physical form of sinful flesh. Paul wrote we are born in the likeness of Adam. That likeness bears no resemblance to the likeness of God that Adam lost to sin. Flesh and blood will never inherit God’s kingdom. The likeness man must possess is that of Jesus.

Paul opens the mystery. It is a mystery no longer that when Jesus returns to claim his Bride at the time of the catching away from the earth, those who died in faith will be raised incorruptible and imperishable. The men and women of faith who are alive at the time of the return will be changed in that same moment. They will be given their immortality and from that point will never be concerned with death. Together with Jesus these all return to the heavens to prepare the Marriage Feast and the eventual return to earth to establish the millennial kingdom.

I will not debate pre-tribulation or post-tribulation or any of the other ideas concerning the “Rapture” of the true church. I will simply state that I believe the bulk of the evidence leans toward a pre-tribulation view. I will be happy to respond to questions from Christians in my email.

The call from the Apostle Paul is to “stand firm”. There is no reason to fear anyone or anything. God has given a solid message and has evidenced his message with the resurrection of Jesus. All the prophecies and references to the Messiah and his first advent were confirmed and fulfilled. There is no reason to doubt any prophecy concerning the Second Advent. God does not renege on his promises. Christians stand saved by the blood of Christ because of their belief in the resurrection.

Paul explained that there is nothing that can separate a believer from the love of Christ. Nothing can move someone who holds the Spirit within. The Rapture will come and the believer will enter the heavenlies based on God’s promise and the indwelling Spirit.

Until that day we work for the strengthening of our own faith. We witness and give answer where it is necessary. We ignore the scorn of those who believe themselves smarter than God, knowing they are deluded and ignorant. There is plenty of evidence for those who open their eyes. There is not much we can do for those who will not acknowledge the Son of God.
