My Favorite Picks For 2005

By Ken Hughes
Jan. 1, 2006

My Heroes, the National Guard men and women who leave their families at great risk, expense, and sacrifice to answer their countries call.

Internet News, The Drudge Report, it has it first and gets it right. Drudge’s always ahead of the rest with breaking news.

Cable News, Fox News they are fair and balanced as advertised. Fox offers equal time to liberals and conservatives. Liberals don’t believe equal is fair or balanced.

News Anchor, Tony Snow although he isn’t seen much these days. I still like his demeanor delivering the news.

New Stories, I’ve enjoyed watching President Bush stick it to Liberal Congressmen. Every time they come up with what they consider a barn-burning charge of malfeasance in office George bats it down with action not words. Way to go George.

Television shows, the Law and Order series are my favorites, I also enjoy E-Ring and NCIS. I suppose that makes me a violent person.

Comedians, Larry the Cable Guy and Senator Robert Byrd both have a message they’re incapable of delivering.

Entertainer, Howard Dean for his ability to reinvent the Democratic Party with each new speech he gives. Howard turns the DNC into a “Box of Chocolates” you never know what your going to get.

Politician, Hillary Clinton, I don’t like her, I don’t trust her but you must admit she’s managed to stay right of center just enough not to pi** off all her constituents and still attract some undecided. She’s a woman Republicans must find a way to contend with.

Nobel Gesture of the year, Senator Joe Lieberman for bucking his party by backing the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Years Most Disingenuous Position, John Murtha’s turning on the troops in Iraq while selling himself as a fellow war hero. The majority of his military service was in the reserves commanding a Car Wash in Pennsylvania.

There’re a litany of good things and good people who could be honored for their accomplishment in 2005. Especially those who left us, John Paul II, Rosa Parks, and Richard Pryor come to mind. I’m sure there were others living and dead who deserve credit for making a difference in our lives.

Who will be our heroes in 2006? Who will stem the tide of discontent, who will make a difference in our lives, who will bring a smile to our faces? Look in a mirror and ask yourselves what you will contribute in 2006 to improve mankind.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE, MAY GOD SMILE ON YOU AND YOURS THIS YEAR OF 2006
