Feb. 28, 2006 IF I were the Queen of the World and had the ability to turn Disagreeable persons into frogs, PASTOR Pat Robertson would be eating flies already. He is the reincarnation of Reverend Cotton Mathers. When the Puritans, precursors of today's radical religious right, burned to death 700 "non-praying" Pequot Indians, Rev. Cotton Mather rejoiced that "...all of them (were) brought down to Hell in one day." I bet that Preacher Cotton had a great big surprise when he made it to the Pearly Gates himself and was greeted by all of those Pequot Indians in Native Style Angel Suits. So did the Angels let him in or send to the place where he said they were going. Consider the History of the Salem Witch Trails. Never under estimate the power of ignorant people in large numbers. Innocent Folks who practiced the Christian Faith were accused of witchcraft - they lost their lives. The politicians and church headed by Rev. Cotton Mather acquired their property. Thank God, our founding father's understood the Wisdom of separation of church and state. If there were no constitution protection of religious freedoms. Nut cases like Pat Robertson would take over and make his brand of mandatory "X-ianity" the law of the land. It is interesting how the radical religious right bemoans religious persecution by Atheist and Agnostics - Yet not one single President has been an atheist or an agnostic. There has been one Catholics, a Quaker, a Jehovah Witness a few Baptists, but mostly Methodist, Episcopalians, and Presbyterians among our Presidents. The Dogmas and the Styles of Worship are different but they are all still Christians. I was pleased to discover that at least four United States Presidents John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Millard Fillmore, William Howard Taft were all members of the beloved Unitarian Universalist Church that I associate myself with. . It is also speculated that Thomas Jefferson who was raised Episcopalians - but held no particular denomination in later years actually held Unitarian Universalist Views. Judging from his quotes on religious issues, I would say that is an accurate assumption. In the Era of our Founding Fathers - the Unitarian/Univeralist Religion was liberal Protestant Christianity. The Unitarians that I know will allow a gay person to be a minister whereas some of the more fundamental Christian groups won't They like calling themselves a fellowship rather than a Church. Different Religious Beliefs are accepted. There are some Unitarians who are Christians, but there are also Jews, Buddhists, and even a few Atheists. Personally, I don't have the Christians beliefs. I believe in a Higher Power but I don't try to define him or her. NEVERTHELESS - Ignoramus fools like Pat Robertson are annoying Certainly there are more important things to do than fantasizing into turning this disagreeable man and his followers into frogs. There are more interesting things to do such as casting Horary Astrology Charts or awaiting the return of Venus. Just for a moment - I will indulge and have a laugh. THEREFORE!!!!! Abracadabra - Zippidy Zap "One-fly watches from his seat, Fire-bugs burns the nincompoop's cheek." An Abundance of Frogs now reside at Rev. Cotton Mather's Tomb and…………..It's all Good!!!!! ------------ About the author: Bonijean Isaacs is a freelance writer and Astrologer in West Virginia.
