Too Much On The Front Burner

By Michael John McCrae
Feb. 25, 2006

I am not going to be concerned about the UAE Port deal any more. The only thing changing is who pays the checks to the Union workers. All the Democrat distress was over the possible loss of Union jobs and the subsequent loss of Democrat supporting union dues. The Democrats are starting to mellow out and the UAE has said we can take all the time we need to assure ourselves this is nothing more than a normal business transaction.

I am not going to be concerned about Howard Dean calling for the resignation of Dick Cheney over the hunting accident and following media feeding frenzy. I will be content knowing that if Cheney steps down or is replaced by anyone, that anyone will be a frontrunner for election in 2008. The person will have had a couple of years in the number two spot and will have by then commended him or herself to the incumbency.

I am not going to be concerned about the Mohammed cartoon flap and all the bitter rioting and protesting that followed. In its historical context Muslims have always been offended by something and have always overreacted in much the same way they are overreacting in this modern age. The President of Iran is always going to be stupid and say stupid things. He will find every possible way to blame America and Israel for the idiocies shown throughout the Muslim world, so I am done being surprised or amazed at the incredible ineptitude of the Iranian leadership. I hope they choke on their nuclear weaponry.

I am not going to concern myself with the NSA terrorist surveillance situation anymore. The President acted inside the precedent set by his predecessors. (Try that one 5 times real fast.) There is still leftist grumblings here, but there are no direct calls for the elimination of the Terrorist surveillance program because everyone knows that the President is acting in the best interests of the nation and that there is nothing wrong with intercepting any communication from any terrorist anywhere in the world if there is any possibility of catching that scum bin Laden or his even scummier buds Zaqawi or Zawahiri.

I am not concerning myself with Guantanamo Bay, Cuba anymore. Everything was hunky-dory with that sand pit for a long time before the first Afghanistan terrorists were incarcerated there and things have only improved since. The meals are better, the prayer times are right on schedule, the lawyers are flowing in and out like fresh water in a steel sink and Dick Durbin hasn’t called an American soldier a Nazi in almost a month now.

I am not going to be concerned with the likes of Harry Belafonte, Hugo Chavez, Cindy Sheehan, Alec Baldwin or any Hollywood puke speaking against the government in ignorance; Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, Harry Reid or any Democrat government puke speaking against the government in the halls of Congress; Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Jimmy Carter or John Kerry or any other liberal puke speaking from foreign enemy soil about the terrorism of America against the poor Muslim minions of radical Islam. All of that crap is making my head spin. I don’t know which of those cruds to choose first in a contest of offensiveness.

I am not going to concern myself with the craziness of the writers of “South Park”. Those radical turds have been crapping all over Jesus and Christianity for quite some time. I don’t recall if they ever had the guts to put a Mohammed caricature in one of their silly cartoons, wearing a bomb vest or carrying a sign calling for beheading those daring to “dis” the Prophet, but they sure have no trouble taking a caricature of the Virgin Mary and covering the image with crap a la certain portrait artists. They probably have a copy of the “Urine Cross” adorning their offices in Canada as a point of inspiration. Apparently you can piss all over the cross of Christ; just don’t get a single drop of pee-pee on that Koran!

I haven’t bothered much with the Winter Olympics since Bryant Gumbel said it isn’t necessary because it’s more like a GOP convention than a sporting event. The local papers have been dwelling on all the American failures too. I can’t tell you any one single name of the seven Americans who have won gold in their event, or even the events. The televisions here have all been stuck on “Curling”…..what is that?

The one thing I am currently concerned about is the soldiers and sailors of the United States Military. With the religious strife between the Sunnis and everyone else our soldiers are now in the middle of what could become a very bloody civil war. The idiot radicals who deliberately blew up the gold-domed mosque in Samarra knew exactly what the reaction would be and they have calculated that they will be able to take over the country from the last religious group standing.

We Americans have placed ourselves in the middle of Muslim religious civil unrest many times and haven’t been burned too bad except in Somalia, but this Iraq mess can certainly become more than we can handle or should even bother to handle. I have always believed that if religious factions want to kill each other off they should be left alone to do that. If Iraq truly wants any form of democratic government they will make it happen otherwise they are doomed to failure and a theocracy much in the line of Iran’s.

Do we pull out the troops until Iraq settles its grievances? No. We stay until the government they end up with tells us to go. That’s been the plan and that should continue to be the plan. Stay out of the religious aspects and assist the governmental aspects that are not based in any group’s religious addictions. That may be a fine line to draw, but if the laws come out of the mosques then Iraq will become, like Iran, a theocratic cesspool of Islamic hatred toward the west, unworthy of societal equality. It will be time to leave, taking all our toys with us when we go.

I guess we’ll see what happens.
