![]() By Ken Hughes Feb. 22, 2006 If you buy CITGO products you’re buying from “Petroleos de Venezuela SA.” the Venezuelan national oil company. Hugo Chavez is CEO of both Venezuela and CITGO. Just when the Bush administration is about to take heat for approving the port operations of six American cities by an Arab Country Company we find a hostile nation already has a foot hold in the oil business in this country and has since the 1990’s. Wasn’t that about the time Slick Willy, [William Jefferson Clinton] was president? Makes us wonder what else the Hill_Billy_Boy sold out from under America doesn’t it? Wouldn’t it be just as possible for Hugo Chavez to slip terrorist into this country on one of those big oil tankers coming from Venezuela as the United Arab Emirates to do the same? What’s one more hostile nation more or less? Personally I’m not in favor of the selling of America. But don’t blame George Bush when it’s been going on for years. What administration and what congress allowed a British company to operate the ports in the first place. I find myself a little embarrassed when I suggest to my friends they “Buy American” and they respond, “Buy what?” Hugo Chavez is of course pandering when he says he’ll bring America down. Hugo needs to sell his oil to America as much as America needs to buy it. Factually gasoline is only a byproduct of oil. The real value in a barrel of oil are the chemicals that are extracted and used to make all those little trinkets made in China and sold at the Wal_Mart stores. How do the plastic resins get from Hugo to China? They’re produced from oil that comes from Venezuela. Formosa Plastics a Taiwanese company located near Huston Texas then ship them to China who turns them in to Barbie Dolls etc. and ships them back to Wal_Mart. Some go to Vietnam to be made into shoes for Nike, etc. As you can see “Buy Americas” has lost its meaning. Congress not the president needs to put a lid on companies owned by or supported by hostile foreign nations. The excuse is always that it will destroy our economy, what about their economies? Without oil sales to America Hugo’s goose is cooked. What would China do if they didn’t export to America? Without sales to America China would make some of those African countries look like hog_heaven, [no disrespect to Africa of hog’s.] The average American government bureaucrat has no clue how dependent the rest of the world is on America. If we had a congress with any ba**s they could make some minor suggestions, back them up with more than words and the whole world would sit up and take notice. One man, the president can’t do it alone and fight the wimp-o-crats in congress at the same time. The American voters elected a Republican majority to the congress. Where the hell are you people, we need your strength to combat the liberals who would sell us down the river for a pound of Starbucks coffee. We need to stop the sale of our port facilities to a foreign nation, the congress needs to get off their collective a**s and pass an energy bill that allows for domestic drilling. Congress needs to get involved in the selling of America, or rather curtail the selling of America. Congress needs [no,] must come to the realization they’re not there for the perks. They’re there supposedly for the American people. It’s time for congress to stop blaming presidents for all that doesn’t go according to plan. It’s time congress did some of the planning. Leaders like Hugo Chavez got in their positions of power because the United States government in their arrogance and superior attitudes dismissed countries South of the Rio Grande to the tip of Tierra del Fuego as too insignificant to worry about. Rather they spent their efforts on France and Germany. The political policies of the 50’s through today are coming back to bit us in the butts. America needs an attitude adjustment, that’s only possible by getting rid of the current congress and starting over and demanding accountability form future congress persons. The Hugo Chavez’s of the world aren’t the problem we’re the problem. Term limits for Congress, 12 years and it’s back to Kansas. ------------ About the author: Ken Hughes joined the Republican Party at the age of three.
