Finding Old Friends

Just recently I began corresponding with my best friend who lives in Texas. Then all of a sudden, her brother contacted me. This made me less homesick and happier that my friends in Texas hadn't been ran off by my ex-husband.

When Sherry and I talked, it was like just yesterday and we were sharing a cup of coffee and chatting about anything and everything. I spent so much time at her house that I felt like family. Funny and true thing is that my Mom dated her Dad in High School!

But Sherry and I have been through so much together that we could finish each other's sentences. Her brother used to work on his friends' cars and Sherry and I would sit in the garage and tell them to change the headlight oil. We talked last night about the Candy Apple Red Chevelle that they worked on and her brother's black Trans Am that he totally rebuilt.

Then we got caught up on the kids and how they are doing. Our men and how different Dan is from my ex. Then we emailed pictures back and forth. Her only child is darling, simply a living doll. He looks like a Hummell creation. (You know, those Dresden collectables?)

But anyway, in just minutes it felt like we had never been out of each other's lives. If I had a biological sister, it would have been Sherry.

Then she got me caught up on the girls we used to run with. I got her caught up on my family and then we spent some time just laughing and giggling like a couple of school-girls. It felt so wonderful to be able to talk to her again. We have so much history together that we know that the other will not be close to the mind and heart ever.

I love you Sherry!
