Feb. 18, 2006 “18"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me. 22If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin. 23He who hates me hates my Father as well. 24If I had not done among them what no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen these miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: 'They hated me without reason. 26"When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. 27And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.” Why would anyone want to be a Christian in this age? Why did anyone ever want to be a Christian? Christians have historically been tossed to lions, burned to death, crucified, incarcerated and tortured, and much of that was done by others who believed themselves to be Christians! What a crazy bunch! Jesus told his disciples many important things on the night of his final supper with his friends. One of these things concerned the hatred of the world toward him and those who would follow him. There was no less harmful person ever walked on the earth than Jesus. There has been no more hated individual that walked the earth than Jesus. Why this great contradiction? Although Jesus was in the world he was not of the world. The world loves and gets along with those who agree that the world is the be all and end all of existence. The world does not understand the eternal. Jesus, the eternal one, never belonged to the world. It was his responsibility to redeem the world from what it had been reduced to through the ravages of sin. The world didn’t want that. The world still doesn’t want that. Those who have received the Son have been separated from the world. The hatred is almost an instantaneous thing. Former friends think you’ve gone insane. Unbelievers suddenly reject any Christian love you may exhibit as an abnormality. You can stand there with a PH.D and suddenly, because you mention Jesus, you’re stupid. These are all manifestations of the world’s hatred. The world treats the Christian as anathema because they do not know the true God. Christians are a threat to every other format of worship toward any other god man has managed to develop. Jesus said that the world has seen the miracles and it did no good. The world still hated both him and the Father. The passage of time hasn’t changed anything. More gods have been created in man’s effort to eradicate knowledge of the True God. Here Jesus says that now that the world has seen the miracles and heard the words of the Son there are no excuses anymore. Paul the Apostle reiterated that warning in Romans Chapter one. The point being that God made every effort, including sending his son into the world to give those of the world a chance to get out from under the influence of sin. And all of that hatred is displayed without a reason. What did Jesus do except heal the sick, raise some dead and call the Pharisees hypocrites? Oh! That’s right! He called the Pharisees hypocrites. When he did that he exposed all those religious charlatans for the poor leaders they were. The one group that should have acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah to come completely missed the mark They had the prophets, Moses, Abraham and David and still did not recognize the savior they had spoken of in their oratories, Psalms and prophecies. Time has not changed anything. We still have the prophecies from the time of Adam and the knowledge displayed by all the Old Testament voices. On top of that we have the eyewitness accounts of the Spirit filled disciples who spoke only the testimony of Jesus because this is what their Lord told them they “must” do. This is indeed what all Christians “must” do. So this is why Christians are hated. We do things we are tasked to do by God. Well, maybe we all don’t do everything we are tasked to do. Some of us are hated less than others. But Christians are still killed for their testimony in places like the Middle East and China and parts of Africa. Christians in America are just cursed at and called unflattering names. Most of us can handle such slights. Just know that you are hated and it is only because you carry the one true God inside of you. The world recognizes that and reacts in a natural self-defense; considering Christianity an enemy, when in truth, Christianity is its greatest friend. ------------ Email Skip: skiptoomaloo@hotmail.com Comment on this article here! ------------ All articles are EXCLUSIVE to Useless-Knowledge.com.
