Feb. 13, 2006 A time ago God created the heavens and the earth and placed man on the earth to be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth. God established his relationship with men and expected only that man devote himself to keeping that relationship inspired and intact. Man failed. God selected a family among all men to survive a judgment he sent upon the earth. The one criterion that enabled the choice was the faithfulness of one man. He was given the blueprint for an ark that would be the salvation of his household and a number of the world’s other created forms. He was also given a preacher’s message. The rest of the world perished because they did not want to listen to that message. That one man’s family produced a population that would eventually cover the four corners of the earth. The covenant that God made with Noah again involved fruitfulness and a multiplication of the race of men. God did not permit this group to fail. He set them apart by confounding their language and sent them into the world to fill it up. The years rolled on and God established another covenant with men. He made specific promises to those who held that relationship in faith. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob carried their faith through many trials. From the time of Joseph and Moses men were called of God to do specific things to save the race of men and the nation that God selected for his special protection. The nation of Israel faltered and failed many times. It was sent into several captivities and survived each one through a series of faithful kings and prophets who were able to rally remnants of the nation in faith to keep the relationship with the true God viable. All the while God continued to send prophets to the people to remind them to remain faithful. It was only their faith that protected them from the terrors of the world and the destruction planned against men. Finally, God sent his son among men. The Son came among men to preach love and tolerance. The Son also came with warning. He specifically warned that men needed to repent of sin and turn to God in faith. Without faith it would be impossible to please the Father God of heaven. Sin in any form could not be accepted. No sin of any kind would enter into the eternity promised to those of faith. The words of the Son were proven and secured by his death, burial and resurrection. The law of God was fulfilled. Men could now call upon the name above every name for salvation. The Son returned to his Father, but not without having first given promises to men of faith that gave assurance of eternal life. The Apostles had been the eyewitnesses and they were given the specific message from the Father that eternal life could only be harvested through the Son. The Apostles preached the longsuffering of God, the goodness of God, the love of God, the grace of God and, as importantly, the wrath of God against sin. Men are impatient. Men want what they want and they always want it now. Cain wanted God to approve the works of his hands over the expressed wish of faithfulness. Israel wanted a king like all the other nations over the leadership of God from the Tabernacle. Societies throughout history wanted gods they could manipulate with their stories while ignoring the one true God making himself known daily by the simplicity of creation. The scripture declares that God is ‘longsuffering toward us” and “not willing that any should perish” but “all should come” to the eternal life found in the Son. The scriptures also explain to us the extent of that longsuffering and the results past the time God ends his time of patient waiting. It is important for the world to conclude that God is all love. If God is all love then it will not matter if you are Hitler, Hussein or Mother Teresa, Saint Peter will open that “pearly gate” and welcome you into the presence of God. That false and glaringly unscriptural assumption has sent millions of otherwise sensible souls to hell. God is love. It is the love of God that allowed Jesus to volunteer to die for the sin of the collective creation. It is the love of God that keeps him from burning the earth to a cinder by a single spoken word, allowing the last possible soul to come to faith at the last possible minute. It is God’s love that keeps him longsuffering and tolerant of man’s immorality until that time he has determined he would act in judgment. Because, yes, God is also judge. ------------ Email Skip: skiptoomaloo@hotmail.com Comment on this article here! ------------ All articles are EXCLUSIVE to Useless-Knowledge.com.
