Feb. 12, 2006 So it's Saturday. And instead of being in my nice warm bed watching the snow fall, I am sitting in the waiting room to see the Orthopedic Surgeon. Normally I don't mind doctors offices. In fact I've gotten used to them. But this particular clinic makes me so mad because these children run and kick people and yell and scream. Their parents do nothing too stop them. It's the same when one goes to the Social Security Administration and you are there just to get a duplicate card. That's the one thing that really bugs me out in public, parents not controlling their kids and then think it's cute when they go up to strangers and bother them. I do not know how many times I have been kicked. Thank GOD my boys know how to act better than that out in public. Oh great, some two year old has entered the waiting room screaming at the top of his lungs "Lock me up!" Instead, let me get some duct tape and tape this kid to a chair. I have been sitting here for 20 minutes and I hurt so bad. I may have to go to the ER when I get done here. When I first arrived and first began this column, I had no idea that my doctor has not arrived at the clinic. So when I learned that he wasn't here yet and it was 2:00 p.m. and I had waited for 40 minutes, I rescheduled and went to the ER. There they gave me a shot of Toradol and a pain shot. Then they ran another set of X-rays and this next week I will be seeing a neuro-surgeon. So it looks like surgery is not far behind. I have mixed feelings, but if it means a way out of my pain, then I will do anything. I have been on so many pain pills, that I can't name them. The last muscle relaxer was back in October. So I know I will have to undergo more tests. MRI's and CT Scans. But maybe this time, they can fix the broken bone and after the operation and recovery time, I can get back to my running. I miss my cross- country running. But at least the kids in the ER are screaming from getting shots!!!! ------------ About the author: Kaycee Nilson has completed her first novel, "Night Falls on Chicago."
