Dec. 13, 2006 San Francisco, CA: “Decades later, mom arrested in deaths” – “After decades of not reporting it, a man told authorities his sister killed four of her babies between 1965 and 1970, authorities said.” When authorities tracked down [59-year-old] Cheryl Athene Miller in San Francisco , where she was unemployed and living alone, she confessed…and was arrested. “Miller seemed ready to unburden herself,” said one sheriff. “She kind of wanted to deal with it…she seemed surprised and remorseful.” Maturity will do that. Eventually everyone comes to a conclusion that there is a right and a wrong. For some it takes more than thirty years, being ratted out by a family member and finally being arrested before admitting to serial killing babies. This situation gives a whole new meaning to the word “mom” in the headline. Laconia , NH : “Woman charged with chasing husband with ax” – “A Laconia woman is charged with going after her husband with an ax. The husband reported that during a heated argument, Linda Masse, 50, chased him through their house with an ax and swung at him and missed, shattering a glass door. He said he went to a neighbor’s house for help and that his wife tried to get in with the ax, but couldn’t. She is accused of bashing his car, then struggling with police,” and she is now “…charged with attempted assault, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.” I was trying to find out what the “heated argument” was about. Does he like “Limbaugh” while she likes “Franken”? Does he say po-tate-to while she says po-tah-to? Either way, people who live in homes with glass doors shouldn’t chase each other with axes. West Harlem , NY : “Police: Woman killed husband with statue” – “A woman bludgeoned her husband to death with a ceramic elephant statue, police said…” “Donna Cobbs, 37, struck her husband repeatedly in the chest…at their West Harlem apartment…Kevin Cobbs, 38, suffered multiple injuries including a stab wound to the torso. He was taken to Harlem Hospital , where he was pronounced dead.” There was no motive given for this fiendish female activity, but Donna “…was arrested on murder charges” so that should all come out in the trial. Pittsburgh , PA : “Woman says she left body of husband on stairs” – “A woman charged with fatally stabbing her husband told police that she left him dead on the staircase in her home overnight and for most of the next day, walking past his body several times before she called a friend to say he was unresponsive.” “Michelle Coulson, 49, told police she stabbed her husband, John, 46, three or four times after he accused her of hiding his liquor…She is charged with homicide.” Let that be a lesson for all you guys out there. When you can’t find your booze in the house; go out and buy more. Don’t ever accuse the wife of hiding your “Hennessy”. In the category of “Doomed to repeat the mistakes of Andrea Yates”, again from San Francisco comes this report from Ken Curtis of the AP, entitled: “Mother accused of throwing her three children in bay pleads insanity and prepares for trial.” “LaShuan Harris took her three children on a train from Oakland to San Francisco on Oct. 19, 2005…then Harris undressed [her children] and dropped them one at a time over the low railing into chilly San Francisco Bay , police said.” “Harris later told psychiatrists…God commanded her to sacrifice her three boys…”but Harris “…has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.” It seems Ms. Harris has been on a drug “Haldol”…”used to treat schizophrenia; but she stopped taking it.” There is no telling what a jury is going to do with this case. But here’s one Brazilian babe I’ll never mess with: “Woman survives being shot 6 times in the head” – Sao Paulo, Brazil: “A woman was released from the hospital a day after she was shot in the head six times in an attack police blamed on her ex-husband…” “Patricia Goncalves Pereira, 21, was shot by her ex-husband who was upset because she refused to get back together with him…Doctors could not explain how Pereira survived the attack…Police said the ex-husband was still at large.” Amazing! Congrats Patricia! It was amazingly stupid too of the Brazilian press to publish the story with the shooter still running around loose. The next time he may aim lower.
