Aug. 15, 2006 It doesn't really matter that Israel smashed Hezbollah. Hezbollah survived to fight another day so they and their Iranian overlords can claim victory. This is not good news for the US and our war against the terrorists. We backed a weak resolution allowing the French and the Lebanese army to control south Lebanon, while hoping that the Lebanese government enforce and arms embargo against Hezbollah. This clash of civilizations has shown one thing: the Islamic Fascists, the terrorists, the beheaders, the psychopaths are determined to win. I can't say the same for the west. Europe ignores home grown lunatics, believing in its power to appease any problem away. While here in America the cut and run faction is getting louder, there mouthpieces in the media continually broadcasting the futility of the fight. "We're losing," "It's civil war," "We have to get out." These, sadly, are the thoughts of a majority of Americans. I suppose paying any price for freedom is all well and good until we get the bill. While there has not been another terrorist attack on American soil since 9-11, the terrorists have not given up and gone away. Their recent attempts to bomb airliners is proof of that. Yet with every attempt more and more people believe the war is not worth fighting, or that the Dean democrats can somehow do a better job. It is the old isolationist streak that is rearing its ugly head. The belief that the muslim world is not worth one penny or worth the life of one soldier. Yet the terrorists don't have the live and let live policy we do. While Americans would be content to leve Iraq, let Sunni and Shiite slaughter each other, and rot under sharia law, the terrorists would still press the fight on all fronts. They have every intention of continuing ther war, whether we do or not. In order for the terrorists to win all they have to do is survive, the bar is set pretty low for them. They know they can't win militarily so they seek to demoralize us. Just liike the Spartans at Thermopalye, 300 of them against 100,000 Persians. Eventually all 300 died, but the Persian morale was so low after the battle that the Persians couldn't claim victory in any real sense. The terrorists seek the same thing, and they might be able to do it. The Europeans have never really been on board, seeking cease fires and diplomacy at every turn. This diplomacy plays right into the hands of the terrorists. It gives them legitimacy, and above all else it gives them time. Time to rearm, time recruit new fighters and plan new attacks. We can not afford any more diplomacy. Victory is our only option. The terror axis isn't going to stop fighting until they are the supreme power, until they achieve a glorious triumph for Islam, and they can only achieve that if we let them. We have to see that doesn't happen. ------------ About the author: Craig Chamberlain has written more than 100 articles for Useless-Knowledge.com.
