Castro's Can't Go Soon Enough

By Craig Chamberlain
Aug. 1, 2006

Castro, if he were to die, would be the recipient of unparalleled since the death of Evita Peron. Cubans, a large majority despise him, would be forced to mourn him. But from leftists the world over the grief would be genuine. To them he is the fatigue wearing, cigar chomping, communist( they are willing to forgive his love of tobacco because of his love of Soviet style politics.) Hugo Chavez would probably, along with Evo Morales, declare an official month of mourning If leftists believed in heaven , I’m sure they would have the 7th heaven reserved just for him.

But rumors of Fidel’s death are premature, and have been circulating for years. He might be a cheap murderous thug, like his worshipers in Venezuela and Bolivia, but he is a cheap murderous thug who is good at staying alive.

Personally, I’ve never understood the romance so many useless idiots have with the man. But guess they love anyone who has a hatred for the United States as deep as they have. So many Hollywood losers and leftists in Washington D.C. are eager to declare his country paradise. I guess free health care makes up for only one legal political party, and no political or civil rights. Yeah, the health care is so great that Cubans rip the roofs off their homes and try to get to Florida.

The left, of course, dehumanizes these refugees. In their minds only a fascist counter revolutionary would want to flee Castro’s paradise, so they must be getting what they deserve. Mumia and Tookie Williams are victims of society, but some poor guy in Havana who wants a better life for himself is a Nazi stormtrooper .

Castro’s political prisoners, democracy activists, intellectuals, and regular people who want a change have scorn heaped upon them, they are dismissed as stooges of Batista, the late Cuban dictator and Castro predecessor, or they are smeared as lunatics. Never mind that most of these souls have lived all, or almost all of their lives under Castro.

Of course the day will come when Fidel will die, it might be soon, or it might be in ten years. When it democracy will come if the U.S. stands with the Cuban people. We must. To leave them under a cruel dictatorship would not only be against our interests, it would be cruel.
