Political Ads Get On My Nerves

By Craig Chamberlain
Apr. 28, 2006

I know, it's weird that a politcal junkie like me would get irritated by political ads. But then my mind is already made up, so there is no need for me to see ads to make up my mind, it's already made up. My real problem is not political ads, after all every candidate has the right to get his message out there. No, my problem is that I live in a heavliy democratic area and so all I see is their ads. Quite honestly it gets on my nerves. But it gets worse. I get ads from three states. I live in West Virginia, but live close enough to Ohio and Pennsylvania that I have to suffer through their ads as well.

So not only do I have to suffer through the political ads in my own state, I have to listen to what a hypocrite Ken Blackwell is (GOP candidate for governor in Ohio) and how Ed Rendell personally saved the state of Pennsylvania, and that anyone who would vote for Lynn Swann or Rick Santorum needs their head examined. And I am pretty sure that soon I will have to listen to an ad that tells the history of the world. It will probably go something like this: God created the world and Robert Byrd, Byrd founded the American republic and is still in the Senate defending America.

Ok, I exaggerate. But Byrd is still defending America, defending it from people with new ideas anyway. So I have to listen to all of this left wing drivel, and I just have to take it. I suppose I could throw my TV out the window but that does seem a little extreme to me.

Political ads from three states is enough to make anyone a little crazy. Well, maybe I'm a little more than a little crazy, and if the primaries don't get here soon and put these ads on hold for a while I am going to be completely crazy.
