Swisher Sweet

By Kaycee Nilson

When you think of a cigar smoker, what comes to your mind? An old man with a stogie sticking out the side of his mouth as he reads his paper on his porch, screaming at the neighborhood kids to stay off his lawn?

What if I told you that more and more women today are finding the joys of smoking cigars? (Myself included!) I like the Swisher Sweet because it comes with a tip and it’s a nice bland of cigarillo. Dan says there is nothing sexier than a woman daring to smoke a cigar. My ex said it made me look lesbian.

For me there is something comforting about cigars and the way they smell. Maybe it’s because my grandfather smoked cigars. But every now and then I like to have a cigar. It cuts down on my cigarette smoking and I can enjoy the cigar in peace with a brandy that is quality.

My ten-year-old son caught me smoking one and he was flabbergasted to say the least. He almost fainted. But then I told him that I like to smoke cigars, and then he was shocked to see Dan light one.

The reason why I like the tipped ones is it doesn’t leave tobacco in your mouth. There is nothing sexy about spitting tobacco out of your mouth. That’s like I never understood tobacco chewers. Constantly spitting and then there is that line of tobacco juice running down their chin like they just slobbered something nasty on themselves.

That’s just gross and disgusting and no woman wants to kiss a man like that! Do men really think that’s sexy? Well they had better change their tunes! It’s as nasty as changing a bad diaper.

There are times when I wish that there were no trade embargos on Cuba. Cuba is reportedly to have the best hand-rolled cigars in the world. I have had a hand-rolled Dominican Republic cigar once, it was harsh on my throat, but it was a nice flavor nonetheless.

We have a place here in Chicago that will hand roll your cigars for you and I tried a Cherry Vanilla once, it was one of the best things I have smoked yet. In fact, we have several “Cigar Bars” were you can sit and smoke your cigar in peace to classical music and have a cup of coffee with it. It is almost like being in a library for it is quiet in there with patrons reading books, but it’s a great place to gather one’s thoughts into cohesiveness.

Yes, one cigar may cost less than a pack of cigarettes now in Chicago, but there times when that one cigar is worth it.

For you smokers out there, let me encourage you to try a cigar. Be sure it’s tipped or you will never get all the tobacco out of your mouth! LOL!

But by all means, look for a cigar bar and sit there amongst the peace and quiet and enjoy one of the best smokes you will ever had.
