Apr. 20, 2006 “1 I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me. 2 Save me, O LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues. 3 What will he do to you, and what more besides, O deceitful tongue? 4 He will punish you with a warrior's sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom tree. 5 Woe to me that I dwell in Meshech, that I live among the tents of Kedar! 6 Too long have I lived among those who hate peace. 7 I am a man of peace; but when I speak, they are for war.” (Psalm 120: 1-7 NIV) When Christians are distressed there is only one direction for words, sorrows, complaints, fears and struggles. We call upon our Lord for comfort against that which distresses us. He hears the call and he reminds us of his love and his nearness. The Christian is assured of grace in time of need. The world lies. The world tells a person it is okay to do whatever you want to do. The caveat is sometimes “as long as you don’t hurt anyone”. Yet, what many people do involves the hurting of others. Drunk driving, drug overdoses, sexually transmitted diseases, teenage pregnancies and abortions evolve from people doing what they want to do. Bankruptcies, abandoned or abused children, arson and law breaking are results of people wanting to live life without having to fulfill individual or parental responsibilities. The world says a family can consist of a single parent raising several children. This lie is believed to the harm of millions of children. The lies of the world say massive debt can be relieved through bankruptcy without further responsibility. The world says that if your business burns down the insurance company will make things all better again. These are the obvious lies. Christians have one that can save them from the “lying lips” of the world. Lying lips punish those who believe the lies. Lying lips burn those who struggle with truth. Doubt against truth often leads one to believe the strangest theories and tales. The world has nothing to offer the Christian except confusion and deceit. Christians are to be “men of peace”. It is certainly difficult to remain peaceful when surrounded by those who “hate peace”. Even the ones who would tell you that they agree with peace have already decided in their own hearts what that means. It does not necessarily mean that they will keep to themselves or permit you your faith. They would have peace on their terms, meaning you should be the quiet one while they continue to shoot arrows and spread burning coals against your belief. The Christian lives in the world but is not of the world. The world is groaning and battling with itself. There are civilized societies embattled by religious and irreligious forces all the time. The greatest battle is that against the true faith. The numbers of those expressing disbelief and outright arrogance against the true God can be stifling. Fortunately, those of us who know and understand the truth; who understand the Prophets and the writings of the eyewitnesses; and who have that full and everlasting relationship with Jesus Christ the Lord will never allow ourselves to be stifled by the whims and lies of natural men. ------------ Email Skip: skiptoomaloo@hotmail.com Comment on this article here! ------------ All articles are EXCLUSIVE to Useless-Knowledge.com.
