![]() ![]() By Kaycee Nilson Apr. 7, 2006 This is the week for Spring Break for the Chicago Public Schools. It begins today (Friday, April 7, 2006) and ends on the Monday after Easter. It’s early Friday Morning, We are talking EARLY! And the two boys are already fighting. Forget sleeping in, forget about a nice cup of coffee. Forget about anything but how to hide the body. I can’t even have a phone conversation with my best friend, Ang, because of the two twirps from Twripsville acting like they have no mind. They are slowly going to make me loose mine. Apparently my neighbors don’t appreciate Spring Break either. The fighting has been going on since 7:30 am and now it’s 11:01 am. The fighting won’t stop. The crying and the “MINE MINE MINE” and the “STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT!” I’m surprised one of them hasn’t come to me yet and said “He’s breathing my air!” I normally love kids, but that’s because I get a break from them, but nooo, not today, They won’t respect a closed door that means “Leave Mother alone so she can write.” Not even the bathroom is sacred for our dear Mother who is trying out the cooking sherry to see if it can be consumed. So now it’s 2:01 pm and I’m STILL working on this column and wondering when the men with the white coat that helps you hug yourself is going to arrive. And yes, I have had the 10-year-old yell “STOP BREATHING MY AIR!!!!” HELP ME BEFORE I DIG A HOLE IN THE BACKYARD TO HIDE IN!!!! ------------ About the author: Kaycee Nilson has completed her first novel, "Night Falls on Chicago."
