Apr. 5, 2006 What is a fool? Well, according to chapter three, paragraph two of my computer manual, a fool is someone that buys a computer from a different company. The chapter is titled, “Know Your Machine”. This might sound odd to the non-believer, but that's only because he denies the Truth – more on that later. I know my manual is accurate. Hey, I know how unproductive I was before I had my PC. I know what kinds of machines I've had from competing companies, and let me tell you, this machine ROCKS. It's fast, well designed, has a small form-factor and includes drivers for non-Windows operating systems as well, including Linux (which I use for everything) and FreeBSD. It's a NICE machine. The best, in fact. How do I know it's the best? Easy – chapter one, baby! Chapter one tells us that any machine made by this company is the best, regardless of what one reads anywhere else in any other brochure or manual. Is that really proof? Well, not by itself. The proof comes in Remember5:1. That is, the fifth chapter titled, “Remember”, paragraph one, which I've copied here: Remember! See folks? Chapter five validates chapter one. Isn't it marvelous?! There's no getting around that logic. Now then, a quick word about denying the Truth. There are many skeptics out there. The hearts of men are so easily fooled and I weep for them. I pity them as their hard drives fail. I pity them as their CPU fans give out. They know they are empty, they know they have hollows in their hearts. They frown as they are unable to plug in their new digital cameras because they lack the right ports. But, are they doomed forever? Is there any hope? This company is a just and good and fair company. We have only to look at TC 4:2 (“The Competition”, chapter four, paragraph two), “Not one of us yet? Never fear! We have the best trade-in policy in the business! We will buy your lightly used PC as a fair credit towards the purchase of one of our new approved systems!”. This manual was written by many different authors over a period of over 20 years and has had, amazingly, very few changes, mostly having to do with new motherboard designs and versions of Windows. It is translated into scores of languages. It is also the biggest computer company in the world, and that, folks, is no accident. This company was one of the first PC manufacturers – all other companies are merely second-rate offshoots. We are all born knowing this, some of us merely forgot. Always remember that the hearts of men are susceptible and the competition is deceptive. Never trust the competition, regardless of evidence they may have showing, for example, better benchmarks – the manual tells us this many times. Trust in the spirit of the manual and your choices will become clear. Take comfort that there is a an ideal PC plan for you. Reading this article today is no accident. Come see the light! See how bright your power LED can be, even in a brightly lit room! We are all born yearning for the same thing, we have only to open our hearts and our wallets and realize the Truth of the manual. You already know that your next PC will come from Buy-Bull Computers, Inc. - trust your feelings! ------------ About the author Frederick Smith: I enjoy writing about the positive virtues of humanism - humanists are the good guys.
